The Fashion House Birthday Nano Tank!

no skimmer, I think I will go down the road of putting the cardinal in first...then the 2 clowns next weekend and then the the dottyback the weekend after.....or put the 2 clowns in first.......aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhh!!!!!! I cant decide!

Go with the Bang and the mushies, this week, the clowns following week and then the dottyback :good:

Something has got to go in this weekend though.

When should I transfer the mushrooms over? I am planning on chipping the rock from under them and then placing them in the tank as I don't want to put the big rocks in.

Talking about the rock....as my puffers are going to go marine eventually I was thinking of putting the rock in with them rather than selling it on, now what is the lowest sg live rock will stay effectively live at? I really dont want to kill it off if i can help it.

Interesting question, to which I don't know the answer, around 1.017 ?, wait for someone who knows what they are talking about though

Thanks seffie!

I think I will have to do some mushies each week as there are loads!

Ok I have a soldering iron ready to kill off the aptasia...how do I do it?

Ok I took the plung and have transferred the cardinal over to the new tank....I was like a mother sending a child to school for the first time! I was watching him swim round and then started to panic that the flow was too strong and he would get sucked into the korila! Talk about paranoid! Anyway so far so good, he is bobbing round the tank happily....I do wonder if he is looking for his friends from the other tank!

Speaking of the other tank, I just went and checked on them (don't know why, maybe I thought they would all be upset at the disappearance of their tank mate!) and found that my cleaner shrimp has shed his skin again...the 2nd time in 2 weeks! Is it normal for them to shed so often?

Now I have to think of a name for him, I think its a him....how do you tell? It has to be a fashion designer, either one associated with stripes or sport (as I think the cardinal look like they are wearing a hockey mask)
Any ideas?

Thanks seffie!

take out the piece of rock and stick the soldering iron in the aiptaisia - sometimes they pop and make you so jump, so don't drop the rock on your toes

Will do seffie, that is my job for wednesday night when the boyfriend is at the pub and can not see all the mess! The cardinal is doing really well in the fashion house tank. He is swimming round all over now rather than looking out of breath like he did to begin with.

ok so a bit of a change of plan...the clowns will be moved tomorrow morning instead as my acclimatising air lines are in use........yes I have finally purchased some coral :hyper:
I popped to the lfs hoping to get a really nice toadstool, last time I was there they had a really long polyp one and just as I was looking at it the lfs man bagged it up for someone  :( So this time I was hoping I could find another similar....well he had quite a few to choose from  so an hour later after much discussion (I was the only one in the shop!) I decided on some....yes some.....I wanted a long polyp one, so he showed me the longest polyp one I have ever seen...so long I didnt think it was a toadstool!....and it is tiny!...like a 5p piece tiny....looks like a sputnik to me! So I ask how much....£8....yep I will have it.....more out of curiosity as to how long the polyps will get when it grows......and then I spot one identical to the one I missed out on...so I had that one too....that one is quite a bit bigger. Oh and I couldnt resist a frag of pulsing xenia. They are nearly finished acclimitisng so pics to follow shortly......

I have finally named my Cardinal.....he is called John Paul Gaultier, the reason is whenever I think of him I have a picture of him on eurotrash wearing a stripey tshirt...this being the link to the stripey banggaii cardinal! So JP for short it is.

Sputnik is tiny and is still sulking a bit, the larger toadstool is also sulking, I dont think the heat is helping!

The xenia is fully open now...more pics soon....

The clowns have now been transferred and seem very happy even though the tank is a tad warm at 28c

looking good. have to say your rock structure is very nice :good:
well thought out as it will allow generous flow all around it and it has many little ledges for the placement of corals. :good:
