The Fashion House Birthday Nano Tank!

moving on at a pace now aren't you!!

keep an eye on the two blennies, in a smallish tank war may break out, or you may get lucky.
sadly my red spot flymo passed away a while ago. they are great looking fish (£9 you gotta be kidding me - mine cost 3 times that!)

i'd ensure that it has some algae to graze on, as well as the usual flake/frozen you feed your other fish.

I have been keeping an eye...but cant from work...oh for a fish tank web cam! With a remote control hand to put in the tank to sort things out would be great as I am over an hour away every day!

He was eating some frozen last nigt so hopefully he will be ok, I have some algae in the tank but will need to get some just incase, would nori seaweed be ok or should I get something else?

Wow 3 times...I knew he was meant be more expensive so got a real bargain! Well if an unsettlable war breaks out I will move him to the other tank and then think about what the hell to do!

If you do have problems, you could try removing the other blenny aswell and rearrange the rock work. Add the newest Blenny back first then the original one.

Worth a try before anything too drastic.

Home from work now and at first sight the blenny was no where to be seen then.....there he was, the other blenny is hanging out in his tunnel at the front of the tank whilst the other is swimming around trying to eat my algae off the back wall!

So far so good :good:

pics after I have had my tea!

tank really is comming on well

i soon see a bigger tank on it way

regards scott

there will be a bigger tank eventually but it will have my green spotted puffers in, they are slowly coming up to 1020 at the moment so they can have my live rock from the 2nd tank, the boyfriend really wants a lion fish of some sort which he will have to research as to what is compatible etc.

i have a fuzzy dwarf lion in my reef tank but if you have shrimps keep an eye on

regards scott

I wont be able to have shrimps or hermits as the puffers will eat them so thats not going to be a problem, the nano will stay so it wont be an upgrade.

As for an update on the blennies, they have had a couple of fights now where I have intervened, red spot was going head first into sailfins tunnel and biting him, they have settled now and red spot has taken up home in a tunnel on the other side of the tank. Hope that will be the end of the territory fights. Both are thankfully injury free but no doubt a bit stressed. Will be watching eagle eyed till I go to bed tonight. Just got to prey they dont fight whilst I am at work......big fingers crossed! I honestly dont think they have been figting during the day today as this seemed to come about after food was introduced. If only I could talk to the fish!

Fingers crossed...I think calm has been restored in the tank, got home from work today and the red spot has made his home on the left and sailfin is still on the right. I do wonder if they had a scuffle today though as they are really keeping themselves to themselves, red spot didnt even come out for some food.
Moonlights are on now and red spot is eating some algae off the back wall which is a good sign. Think it is going to be a slow process of them defining their territory.

I have been trying to get a good pic of my zoas under moonlight but can not get the colours at all, anyone have any advice on how to acieve this (please bear in mind I do not have a really fancy slr or anythng)

Can be very territorial ..my bi colour constantly harrassed the the flymo i put in after him and that's in a 3 foot cube.. Keep a close eye on them for a while.

Have to say my blenny has it in for my yellow watchman goby. The goby was there first and defends his cave, yet the blenny is still persistent.

The only help I can give at the moment with the pictures (I am having trouble myself) is that you need ideally a tripod (use a stack of books to improvise) and a very slow shutter speed. Have a look what modes you have on your camera, the same one for fireworks, neon lights etc is the one you want.

If you have photoshop, you can often get rid of any noise and mistakes you have made with the picture. Needs a hell of a lot of getting used to though.

Sorry they have taken so long....

Pics as promised!
