My emerald has taken to a nice litte cave under a rock right at the front of the tank so I see him all the time! the others have been all over the place!
As formy 1st tank....it is starting to grow some fine algae...maybe getting some more crabs and snails today to help with that one!

Things are moving along nicely now!....

Oh I forgot to say I have named my clowns.....can you guess.....................

4 red leg hermits and 2 turbo snails are making their way round my fashion house!

A bit of an odd question but has anyone else who has a bangaii cardinal noticed they make a weird noise?
They turnon their side and make this clicking noise...i thought something was knocking the rocks until I saw him do it....very weird...but cool!

So got home from work tonight to find one hermit dead, he was out of his shell so who knows what happened to him......but.....as I was checking on the others I noticed one other hermit acting really weird and poking out of their shell and darting back in again....odd.....then she started to chuck out little shrimp things......yep.....baby hermits!!!!!!!!! I immediatley turned the pumps and korila off and watched them swim around and eventually settle on the rocks all over the place....well my next thought was shells! How on earth do I get shells that small...and do they need shells to begin with??? So I scooped some of my tiny baby snails from one aquarium and chucked them in, they were just pest pond snails so wont survive the salt but thats not why I added them.....hopefully .....and I think it wont happen but baby hermits would be nice!

Anyone else experienced this...if I hadnt seen it I would never of believed it!

never seen this happen!
in a normal situation they woiuld be eaten by the fish, but as you haven't got any yet (is that right?) they might just survive. no idea what they'd eat though?

Yep ypu are right ...no fish! They are all over the place in the tank...nio idea what they eat though! I don't really hold out much hope but you never know!

Quick update today -
The fashion house tank has now got 2 cerith and 2 nass snails.....and while I was watching them eat I saw this little blue thing scurry out of a tube made from sand and grab some food and run back in......surely not another ting mantis....I am keeping any eye on this one...looked far more colourful than the others I have seen.

Tank 2 now has a peppermint shrimp...hopefully to help me with the aptasia.


When do you think I can start transferring stock over to the fashion house?

I promise there will be some pics by the weekend!

Since I added the peppermint shrimp I havent seen him, is this the norm or should I take it he has died?

i have a few pep shrimp and never see them! they are still alive though as i see a moult every now and again. I see them wen i re-scape too.

Pics as promised today!
As I seem to now only have 2 red leg hermits (I have no idea where the 3rd one has gone!) I decided to get some more red legs (lfs has them and turbos at £9 for 6 of any mix) so off I went to get them and spotted some other hermits in a tank on their own. I asked what they were and they said rock hermits......I think they had no idea! So I asked if they were part of the offer (thinking they would say no!) and yep he said....so I will have 6 I said! And whilst chatting to him I saw this see through red spotted shrimp, I ask what it is to be told a sexy shrimp!...now I know its not a sexy shrimp....priced at £6 for a sexy shrimp I thought why not....so had him too! Now to explain why I have bought another shrimp is because I have this weird fear that if I transfer my cleaner shrimp from the pther tank something will go wrong and I will accidentaly kill it! (I know it irrational!) Now as I dont really want to kill my massive cleaner shrimp I thought better to buy a small shrimp and practice putting one in first!

So after looking on the net I believe that my shrimp is a spotted cleaner shrimp......please correct me if I am wrong though! You might need to view the pics in full to actually see the shrimp!

And my hermits.... Any ideas what they are?

And I have some weird algae leaves starting to grow and some lovely hair algae on the back wall which my ceriths & turbo have set to cleaning!
