Show Me Your Car!

Fast imports aren't all that common here. We do have the Sti's and Evo's that are fast, along with the Domestic Neon SRT-4's which are pretty damn quick as well. For the most part the street scene consists of mostly show and no go here...so cruising around on a friday night you just never really pull up to anything fast unless it has a V8 engine. Everyone just has the same ole Honda with a body kit it seems

Aaah, the people who mod the outside thinking that huge amount of fibre glass will make them quicker...see a whole load of them in Southend every Saturday night

One of the favorites here is to buy a beemer 320 or 520 and stick an M badge on the back and think they are fast...

Yup, we call them attention whores here, or more affectionately "ricers". They spend thousands on appearance mods and yet don't know how to work on anything under the hood and yet talk a big game as if their 15 second rides can take on Vipers and Vettes. They fail to realize that outside of their little clique, everyone else is making fun of them...even people who know nothing about cars.

Once in a while you do find a moderately quick one, but for the most part they just make a lot of noise.

Couple pics from a Ford meet i attended on the weekend.

Ford GT in first pic

The two Blue cars are my friend's '04 Mustang Cobras. Both put down about 480HP to the wheels. On the end is my other friend's '02 Mustang GT which puts about 360HP to the wheels.

Very clean '92 Mustang

Final pic is just an overall shot of part of the show. Not every car is in this view. You can see the '06 Mustang vert in the foreground and the Ford GT to the left

I'd love to show the rest of the pics, but just too many to post.

I posted the following hoax in a car forum:

I got my brand new 350Z last month. Much to my dismay, though, with gas prices as high as they are it costs more than I would care to spend to keep the tank full. I thought I had a solution yesterday, but I may have made a mistake.

The thing has more than enough power, so I figured I could get away with diluting the gas a little. I waited until the tank was half full, and then topped it off with water, so that I would have a 50/50 gas/water mixture.

This morning I was planning on going to the mall, but I didn't make it to the end of my street before the car started stumbling and making strange noises. Then it died completely and it won't start up again.

Can someone help me? I'm not sure what I did wrong. I've heard that fuel cell cars are powered by water, so I wouldn't think that a little water would cause any trouble.

Finally! I can play :)

She's a 1994 Volvo 440 S 1.8L

This one isn't mine but mine is the same model with the colour coded bumpers.

We found her on ebay on a buy it now.

While we were discussing her, my husband said we should call her "Vicky" and I said no because 'Vicky Volvo' sounds a bit like a porn star.
Eventually, we agreed to go with whatever name she already had, if she already had one. If she didn't, we'd discuss it later.

I phoned the seller, and after we sorted out buying her, I asked him if the car had a name that we could use and he told me yes, for the past 3 years they'd called her Vicky :X Doh!

IIRC there is a German race track (possibly Nurburgring, not sure though) where a skyline holds the fastest lap. And they have done F1 testing there.

It is the Nurburg ring, but the record is for a production car.

Still no mean feat though since they've sent Enzos, lambos, zondas, Maclaren F1s, XJ220s all round it.
