Well, I think I'm all caught up on this thread now.

Add me to the lefty roll-call. My grandma went through a lot of the well-intentioned abuse some of you mentioned. @AdoraBelle Dearheart, your "Christian faith" comment surprised me; I'd never heard that. Did you know that the only mentions of lefties in the Bible are quite complimentary--great warriors, all of them? I have no idea where the idea came from the left-handedness is anti-Christian, since YHWH obviously had no problem with lefties on his side. Don't people choose the dumbest things to get hung up on?

@Barry Tetra: If I had my choice of all of those, I would definitely go with the "Revolutionary" etude. My piano skills never grew to the point where I could attempt that one, but I think it would be outrageously fun to play. And of course, playing something extremely fun is THE best way to conquer stage-fright/fear of failure.

@PheonixKingZ and @Flushable Pets: Either of you ever try the bodhran? That's my jam. :)
Yep, it's bizarre some of the things people get hung up on :) My grandma was a sweet woman, I think it was just back in her day, left-handedness was something to be corrected, and there was still a holdover attitude that it was a sign of the devil, or associated with the devil, something like that. My grandma passed when I was five/ six so I never got to ask her about it, only going on what my mum told me.

Sorry for you lose, hate against left handed people should have never happen, I still dont get it why people thinks its evil hand though.

Left handedness has been associated with evil for a long time, long enough for even our language to reflect this. Did you know that the word 'sinister' derives from the Latin word for 'on the left'?
Did you know that the stairs in European castle towers always spiral up to the right? That way a defender can wield his weapon right-handed, but anyone ascending has to attack left-handed. So, lefties were always put in front during an assault on a fortified tower. (this is actually true, unlike most of the "fun facts" I share on here)

I guess that's why, in Western society, lefties have a reputation for being tough and independent--all the weak ones got weeded out hundreds of years ago.

We need to revive the expression, "...and Bob's your uncle."

I come across it occasionally in writings associated with Irish and English traditional music. It means, roughly, "...and there you have it," or "...and that's all there is to it." It seems to have mostly died out around the middle of the 20th century. That's a shame.

I would consider it a personal favor if all of you would start slipping this expression into your everyday speech as the opportunity arises. Thank you very much.

They flat out refused to refund my involuntarily canceled flight and were only willing to offer me a future credit to be used within the next 12 months, which I wouldn't be able to use. Oh really? You can only offer me credit? It's amazing how fast their supposed "policy" changes when you can quote their Carriage of Contract policy (10.2.1 and 10.2.3 if you ever need it) and the US DOT laws and use big words like "small claims court". I feel better and lesson learned.

I finally finish my "Barry tetra's aquarium vacuum, yep I know I hope I don't get a

Took the kids swimming the other day at Tappan Reservoir and my wife and I went kayaking yesterday, also at Tappan. Overall had a good time, but there are some sick people out there. They have a few small sandy beaches where families frequently play and besides countless broken bottles (there aren't even any rocks to break them on!) in the shallow water, someone thought it was a good idea to take a bunch of nails and bury them pointing straight up in the sand in the water a few feet from the shore. They spread them out across the whole width of the beach. Who does something like that?! Children play there!

On a brighter note, we did have fun playing in the wakes of boaters and jet skiers in our kayaks. We also caught several water scorpions (stick bugs that live in the water) and a young queen snake that the kids loved playing with before we released it.
