I was wondering if it could be a Cichlasoma (Archocentrus) nigrofasciatum.

Here's a picture of one

I'm not sure if it's a hybrid, maybe it's just another type of convict.

yea the one is a female convict, the fish in question is towards the back in the first pic and the middle pic that's the fish in question. the last is its female convict buddy that he never leaves. i know that the one is a gorgeous female con, its the other one i dont know lol. i know it has convict in it, but if/what else it has i don't know.

looks to me like a fm/con.It looks kinda like my fms.But looks abit darker.My fms go that colour when they are felt threatened.

Looks like a goofy convict to me. My lfs gets them in all the time. Just another variation iv been told, though the lfs has been wrong before...like all the time.

HAHA IT LOOKS LIKE A BLUEGILL. No, don't start... I know that those two can't hybrize... but a bluegill can kill any cichlid any day.

i've been reading this entire thing . . .i do agree it's a fm/con i had a fm and convict mate awhile ago, and the fry looked exactly . . cept not as big and pretty, like that, until they died. lol. but anyway . . .i've been readin this . . .and uh . . .meppster is just a big pile of uhm . . .incorrectness. just. no. not at all. u are so annoying. lol. oh yeah, a while ago u helped me with my fm's and some bp's on this forum, thanks t.

I have updated pics. I jsut need ot crop them before I put them up. I needed ot move him to another tank, he wasn't getting along to well with the alpha convic mae in the main tank . I'll get those pics up asap !

edit: By the way, I'm looking for somehting good to breed him to. I do't know what I should breed him to. I know it's a male, and it's getting close to my female JB parrot. Should I let him mate with her jsut to see what we get or seperate them asap? I mean I would cull or find homes for most of them. And definately advertise them as Father: Posible FM/Con Hybrid... Mother: JB Parrot... or something liek that. Should I try him with my female JD? I want to breed him, but I jsut don't want people bashing me for wanting to breed a mystery hybrid.

Unfortunatley I would think he would be infertile but you could pair him with other smallish species like convict/fm/sajica etc.My JB parrot(balloon convict)bred with a sajica so I dont see why you couldnt breed yours with your mystery hybrid.
