Ok Just Got This... What The Heck Is It?

I hope it works out too. Hmm.. either way, I'm one step closer to breeding a strain of hybrids. It should be interesting to see how it works out. After that though I'll have to breed siblings to get the traits I want o breed a bit more stable, though that might not be possible

Its possible but anthing crossed with a convict(apart from the same genus eg. sajica, jade eye)tends to produce sterile males.

Wait did do you say he was defo fertile(i.e you saw fry not just what you thought were fertile eggs).

Well I've seen the eggs, and they looked the same as my convict pair produce (i.e. fertile coloration and everything) You can even see inside the eggs a bit and see a little fish developing. A little black dot as I call it (the eyes). Then I wake up one morning and the eggs are gone and I see one of my bottom dwellers with a nice big tummy (most of the time its my little clown loach. It is still pretty small so it can fit into most of the little crevises in the tank and decor. I love him, but the loach frustrates me at times .

There are no other pairs in the tank, so I know the eggs are from them. That's why I want to get a seperate tank for them and let them do it without any distractions. I'm just working on reaarangeing some things and making some adjustments.

My sister is currently looking out for that tank (its not with me) and she keeps me updated. I'll have to have her tell me how its doing. See if any eggs got to hatching. I mean if they did, the JB and Duke are pretty mean so I'm sure EVERYTHING will stay away fro mthe living fry. I'll give her a call tonight ot find out. :good:

Updated Pics of Duke, hes presumed ot be a FM x Con, but may be a Midas x FM (is this possible- someone keeps suggesting it to me). His fins are a frosted glass white with blue "spangles" in it. It looks like ice. His body looks literally like a zebra and has what I counted ot be 9 stripes and inbetween the stripes has a black dot directly running down the center of his body. I have paired him off with a Zebra con girl to see what I get as I rehomed my JB parrots. He is still about 6" and hasn't grown much. He's extremely camera shy, so it was really hard to get good pics of him.

These show off his tail color a little (they're not that clear looking, but white, using your eyes and no flash)

Sorry for all the pics, but I wanted to update everyone on his progress.

i want to say it has JD in it due to the blue dorsal and other fin dots.maybe a hybrid of a hybrid.

no i just mean that maybe a parent had jd in it.like this is offspring of a hybrid(say father) and another fish.

The genes would probably dissapear and it would be very unlikely, but it has the exact same fin shape & fin colouring as a FM.Very nice fish! :good:
I want one..

I Reckon it could have a bit of Honduran Red Point In it which has been x with a convict at some point? Google it up after sein the jdxcon photos i don't think this is but id say more like a red point x Convict?

I had 2 but one of them died. They haven't got any new ones in and haven't heard back form the guy! Loads of people love him I could make a mint selling fry like him

Umm, that may be the case, but their is certainly more in him than convict and its cousins, that's my opinion on it, and there are plenty of people who would agree :p

*Note* I wasn't trying t be smug or rude about that comment either ;)

http://www.gcca.net/fom/Archocentrus_sp_Ho...n-Red-Point.htm

i have a female convict that has the bronze and greeny/blue tinges in blotches all over her like a red point but looks more like a convict.

could it be down the line they've crossed and the recessive gene now shows?

Cons and red points cross all the time, I actually purchased 2 male HRP that I now think are corssed with cons as their colour is nothing compared to other HRP's I have seen.

Saying that I dont think nevergones fish is crossed with a HRP.
