now... (presently)
well i'm not sure if its a breeding pair or not, but it hangs with the female con ALL the time towards the back heavily planted part of the tank, it might just be that they are close freinds or something as i heard fish can create freindship bonds (mostly in the females of cichlid species and so on). well its body is black and orange now like a tiger pattern. the black verticle bars are still present and the body has turned orangeish. the metallic flair has gone, but it now has redoutlineing on its dorsal fin at the top and it has a reddish tail with light blue dots all in it (even the other fins have this coloration). it is about 4 inches SL or so now. it hasnt grown much, but filled out more around the girth. it definately is the biggest fish in the tank now though and isnt showing signs of slowing down. i'm guessing it will grow to around 10" in length based off its rate of growth or even a bit larger.
like i said its still very timid and not aggressive at all. it gets bullied by the other fish in the tank.i actually had t heavily plant it because there was only one spot for him to go and they found him easily. he used ot hide in this sunken ship thing, now he hides i nthe silk plants. i cant imagine him being a big aggressive fish, but then again in my other 55 gallon i have a 6" femal JD and she is a pansy, so it just shows personality varies greatly from fish to fish lol.
But anyways, here are the best pics i could get. please excuse the yellowish water, i got lazy with getting all the tannins out of the driftwood. i scrubbed it of dirt and debri under scolding water and didnt feel like soaking it as i wanted ot get it into the tank asap. now i kind of wish it did lol. the tannins are never ending :cry1: .

the second pic is of the fish, had to chase it out front wit ha net to get this one. it likes hiding in the back of the tank in a place where noone can see it lol it has a red line going down the top of its dorsal that doesn't show up in the pic. the gold spot (the third one down, changes from back to goldd metallic and vise versa depending on its mood- i havn't figured out which is which yet, but i'm assuming the gold means unhappy since i chased it out lol)
this pic is of the female convict who is it's partner in crime. they hardly ever leave each other. lol
