New Nano Diary...

when I first put him in he jumped right onto my galaxea and killed a corner of it, after that I kind of swatted it with a net and the current picked it up, it grabbed onto the rocks and settled into the little nook where he is now, actually it's moved up and opened up a lot more since then but seems pretty set in it's location...no luck on the clown checking it out yet.

That's pretty good then. It's no good for them nem or your other corals to have it wandering for too long. Your tank must be set up just right for it :good:

If your clowns are tank bred they may never host in the nem, or anything for that matter. Do they host on anything already? If so it may be worth moving it to disrupt their territory then they will have to go looking for something new and will hopefully pick the nem

That's pretty normal :/ Oh well...maybe they will find the nem at some point. Did you get it just for the clowns? It looks lovely either way :)

heh ever since I setup the SW tank my girlfriend has been saying "ooo get a wavy thingy" so that's part of why I got it...plus it really is pretty. I walked in earlier to find it upside down on top of my galaxea again...either it hates that coral or loves that spot...I moved the galaxea up higher by the pump so the nem couldnt get up there even if it wanted to. It's settled back into another corner, loooks better in that spot...it's out of the flow so it's not as wavy but it's opened up even more so I guess it's happy there. The clowns will get close to it but dont treat it any different than the rocks...

I wouldnt say its so much a problem with them being tank-bred as it is a problem with the species. Ocellaris and Percula Clownfish are the least-likely to exhibit true hosting behavior. IME, Clarkiis and Skunks host just about anything, and Tomatos host a lot of things too.

So Im thinking of swapping my black clown goby for a firefish goby and one of my perc. clowns for a tomato or clarki...how's that sound?

you can't mix different clowns, so you would either have to take both clowns back and get a different clown, or just leave it as it is. Why do you want to get rid of your percs?

was just wanting to get a clown to host my anemone.

Sad news though...

Kind of ironic...I was closely checking out the two clowns, see which one looked the healthiest so I could trade in the least healthy...later that night, the one I picked out to be the most healthy had little white specs all over himself and the other was even worse. This morning my healthy looking one was dead on the sand and the sickly looking one looks pretty much fine. He's clear of all specs now, he just looks kind of off. He's moving fine though. My goby has the same specs on him but I havnt seen him today..hopefully he's fine...also, my wrasse looks the best he's ever looked and is doing really well. Having my water tested later today and hoping for the best. Can anyone explain the white specs? With the blue light on in the cube they kind of looked like extremely tiny pieces of rice. Also my nem isnt nearly as big as usual but still it's still wiggling.

pretty much determined the fish was sick with white spot/marine itch. Their behavior was similar to the symptoms Ive read so far...I thought the scratching against things was normal. My black clown goby is still unaccounted for...the other clown looks fine but is only swimming on one side of the aquarium...hoping for the best. There is nothing around here for him so I ordered some Sano Reef treatment...kinda pricey...hoping it turns out ok. Can I do freshwater baths until it arrives? How do I go about that?

update...I found my goby...he's sitting behind all the rock...looking terrible, covered in white spots. Help?
