Menacer's Fishless Cycle Log

Same tank Ive got mate - just set mine up today, but mine is in black ;)

Cool show me some pics when you get it going ;)good luck with your cycle :D

A drop in Ammonia today but a drop in nitrite as well?

You will have some N bacs starting to grow so you will get some nitrite to nitrate processing, but as you add more ammonia as your readings hit 0ppm, your N bacs have more and more nitrite to process and this is when the nitrite spike generally happens. I say generally, as I never got a nitrite spike and theres a lad on here just had a cycle do exactly the same as me. (Post was "pleasant surprise" or similar). Once you get your first ammonia 0ppm and dose back up to 4ppm youl find youl be re-dosing every 2-3 days, as us Makems say, when it gans it gans altogether!!

Tank looks fab.....is it that blue all the time?

Thanks buddy for the info, no that is just a moon glow light that is installed ;) it has a normal light aswell

What am i doing wrong

I`m right about where you are on your cycle.

Mine has shown me nothing good either. It seems like every fish less cycle is different, and most of the time takes way longer than you Think!

MY cycle is breaking down Ammonia in 24hrs for the past week and no sign of nitrites or nitrates!
Bout to switch up to fish in cycle. Never seen 1/2 fishless 1/2 fish in documneted before LOL

Good Luck TO you, I wish I could Offer You some Advice, Just be PAtient I guess...

Thanks mate yeh i will just be patient i guess, i am seeing a small amount of nitrites

you still checking your pH? If it drops the break down slows down.
But you have a reduction in ammonia which is good - so what its slow, its been said that the slower the cycle, the sturdier the colonies are once you add fish.

May be worth seeing if there are any media donors in your area..

This. Since I noticed my own PH had dropped, (missed it for over a week), then upped it, my cycle has accelerated suddenly.
