Johns 450ltr (110 Gals) Journal

Not sure on the white rocks myself.

It's about time! Not loving the rocks either. The only time I ever really saw wood work well with rocks was in a river bed type biotope where the rocks were rounded and smooth and didn't contrast much with the substrate. A question, you still have the 4x54 t5s in this tank? If so, I agree with George and advise more bps as well. Remember, though you have less than 2WPG, this is a 110g tank and 1.96WPG is going to probably be high light in this size tank. You really don't have a lot of plantload in this tank. Are there any stemplants? I think I see a few crammed in the back, but not at the numbers I expected.

Hi llj, as i said the rocks will probably go this week end and i dont think i will have any at all. i have increased the bps to three bps the drop checker is a nice green colour so i think its about ok, there are stem plants at the back in each corner but they are on the small side at the moment when i take the rocks back to the lfs i will swop for more plants.at the moment all the plants are pearling very nicely the only thing i dont like the look of is the amount of minute bubbles on the surface, the total number of plant pots was 90 plus, i think i need to split them up a bit more, regards john. :)

Hi all, just thought i would let you know the rocks are being removed in the morning and i am going to the lfs to exchange them for more plants, i wont be useing any rock at all in this set up ( it seems according to my wife i have poor taste in rocks  ) the plants i do have seem to be doing well i have some reasonable growth one week on and they are all pearling like mad, bps is now at three per second and the drop checker is nicely green, ph in the morning is about 7.2 then 6.8 in the evening, regards john

Hi all, ive done my first water change then i planted the new plants i got from aquajardin and aquatic habitat both near glos, i made a few alterations to the way it was and my wife and son both agree it looks 100% better, the plants i bought were, cardamine lyrata, echinodorus tenellus, eusteralis stellata, hydroctyle leucocephala, hygrophila corymbosa siamensis, i also replaced some of the p,helferi due to some of the original looking a bit sorry for its self, i added some more hc just to make the foreground wider the only plant that seems to be struggling is the java moss (vesicularia dubyana) i will post some pics on tuesday, regards john. :) PS: The stones also went

HI Arif, yes i agree the rena does look very nice but i think his hc is lacking some fe, maybe it would be nice if ed the manager would let us do a shop meet for those on the forum who are interested, i know George Farmer was interested in a visit one day, regards john

ye that wold be gd im only half an hour away i agree with you on the hc there was a bit o an algae problem with it aswell but i saw many many algae shrimps in there working away on the hc.
its funny cuz they got loads of shrimps in there display tanks but they dont have any in the fish section cuz thats the reason i went for some shrimpcuz i got a massive algae problem in my 8g biotope.

Hi all, here are some pics of the alterations and the newly added plants, some of the leaves on the original plants are a bit pale would the addition of some fe help? regards john. sorry about the picture quality still using my old cannon A60 .

Thats more like a planted fishtank cant wait to see the eusteralis to set in mine is doin gr8 loads of new runners but because u got a large tank the stems should thicken out and turn into the ones in the rena display tank if you noticed them,

Looking good John and I'm sure this will turn out to be stunning tank.
