Hi Amanda, in the end i began to dislike those rocks so much they just had to go, i added a lot more plants and they all seem to be doing nicely i upped the tpn to 30 mls three times a week, i have a bit of algae coming so i will do more water changes more often until the tank has cycled, this coming weekend i will load up some more pics, thanks for kind remarks regards john.

Yikes thats gonna get through some TPN!!! Hope you've bought the 1000Litre bottle and not the 500ml. lol

Hi John! I've just come back from holiday, and it is nice to see some long-awaited pictures of your tank. Unfortunately, I can't see the first set, as they only appear as icons on my screen, so can't comment on the rocks. But the last ones are really nice. I am sure you are going to have a great tank!

HI Biulu, i hope you had a nice holiday thanks for your nice remarks i have had a few algae problems nothing major so yesterday i added some flying foxes 12 in all but when i put them in after letting the bag float for half an hour they were in some distress, then i realised why, they were reacting to the high co2 levels so luckily i have a pet store close to home so i went and bought a small internal filter to give some surface movement and turned the co2 off for 24 hours and luckily they are all ok now. i have left the co2 off all day today but tomorrow i will turn it on but only at i bps not three. this comming weekend i am going to buy a ro unit because the water in my area is very hard and my gh is 17% also i am going to reduce my kno3 to one tsp as my no3 was at 50 ish (high) so buying an ro unit will cure this problem because most plants dont like high levels of kno3. regards john

When you floated them did you add small amounts of tank water every few minutes before releasing them into the tank?

Hi nry, i mixed the water together as slowly as i thought was ok, i was running my co2 at three to four bps and the fish did recover in about two hrs after the surface movement to reduce co2 levels. regards john

Ah well - I just wonder if it was as much stress of a move etc as much as the CO2 levels - was your drop checker green?

I think the c02 was a tad high it was a greeny/yellow colour so i would say it was slightly high.regards john oh by the way ed at Aquajardin in glos thinks i am running my co2 far too high at 3/4 bps he runs his 4x2x2 at less than 1 bps and his plants are superb.

All tanks are different though - I have to run 60bpm and my tank is only 60 litres!

Hi all, just a small update on progress and new additions, yesterday i added 18 oto,s it was buy five get one free hence the 18, i also bought a four stage ro unit which does 50g a day, so my present stocking at the moment is 20 caridina multidentata (amano shrimp),12 flying fox,s and the 18 oto,s, When i return from holiday at the end of this month i am going to add about thirty cardinal tetras, then a little later i may add some red line torpedo barbs but i havent totally made up my mind on that as yet,the plants are all doing really well the small algae problem i had is now sorted i have turned down the co2 to one bps and this seems to be working very well at the moment i have also lowered my dosage of kno3 from one and half tsp to just one tsp because my gh is quite high at the moment my tap water has quite high kno3 anyway, when i go over to ro water i will up the dosage to what is was originally, the reason i havent posted any pics lately is because our spanish friend dropped my camera whilst on holiday and now it only takes fuzzy pics so i have to buy i new one. regards john

bloody foreigners eh!!!

The either steal your things or break them.

I know all too well being married to a clumsy theiving portuguese woman :hyper: :hyper:

LOLOL

Good Luck with the fish John. I wouldve just got 100 Cardinals rather than get the Barbs. The effect would be amazing and not so sure the barbs will get on with them too well.
