Jeffery's 100 Us Gallon Planted Aquarium

I have got my laterite and flourite all washed off and clean now; after about 4 hours of grueling rinsing I am done :D . I did not realize how dirty these would be  . There is no water in the tank yet as it is to late to fill up because everyone is asleep. So first thing tomorrow I will hardscape and feel with water. I have mature filter media so there will not be but a 2 or 3 day cycle process. I will have pictures up as soon as possible, but I don't think it will be tomorrow because I still suspect the the tank will be cloudy, maybe by Wednesday I will have some up.

The plants will be in tomorrow at around 10:30 am. The place I ordered from only ships on Monday and Tuesdays for the plants sake. Also I placed another order for blyxa japonica.

I have changed the layout I want so here is a photo:

I am going to put the blyxa at the back of the tank and have my driftwood as is in the original layout.

So after getting my plants in and taking them out of the pots and potting fabric I have them in:

The slate on the wood is just on there until it is fully water logged. I thought that it was but then I put it in the tank and it floats on one side, so i decided to attach some slate just temporarily until it is water logged.

I have some more hc and blyxa japonica coming in Wednesday or Thursday if not delayed by the hurricane.

I hope you guys enjoy, now remember this is my first planted aquarium if you see anything that I can do to improve let me know.

P.S.:
the slate on the wood is temporary

the wood shall look good as it will draw your eye across the whole length of the tank but it must not stick out that much once fully planted.

Yea that is what I was thinking. I am just hoping that the fissidens covers it how I want and not grow into a big huge bush. I just need to teach it to grow as I want it to. I want it to cover parts of the wood.

Looking call Jeff mate, Id like to see some more branchy smaller wood in there :p...Keep it updated for us :D

Looking good so far. It would look really good if you tied riccia to the whole length of that wood, and then down onto the slate. Then that way you wont need to worry about your wood floating with the slate still attached.

good start, you need to get more plants in there asap. other wise your hc will be an algae magnet. get fast growers. hygrophilia polsperma and the likes.

nice bit of wood :good: like guppy man says riccia on the wood would look cool.

Can I just transfere some swords from my 20 gallon over, rinse them off in dechlorinated water and plant them in the tank? I will look into the ricca. Thanks for all the compliments I will get some fast growers in there ASAP.

When my other plants come in I will put some more photo up.

a.swords arent fast growers, you need some stems. Go to LFS ad pick up a buch of elodea densa (oxygenting plant) and chuck that in, you may find it in ponds section if it isnt with aquariums.

It is also said to release an algae busting chemical?? not sure whether it is true.

Hygrophillia polys[[erma is good for using ammonia too.

is 2 54watts power compact flourescent tubes, and 2 20 watts t5 tubes enough light for my 100 gallon?

Very cool tank m8 maybe a few tall plants in the back to hide the wall behind. Looking to plant my tank tho its just not as big and would love more pics on how it progresses. Keep updating please.
