Right I have tested my tank for the first time. The rock has been in for 7 and a half hours and here are the results how are they???

Ammonia- 0mg/l Although it wasn`t the same green as 0 it was brighter and it goed darker as it goes up the scale.
Nitrite- 0,1mg/l (ppm)
Nitrate- 20mg/l (ppm)
Magnesium- 1080mg/l
Calcium- 420mg/l
PH- 8.4

Right well I added my LR today I think its looking good I also put my rowaphos in the filter. One thing though I have loads of fine bubbles in the water which if you turn all the equipment off disapear will these go after time its just cause everything is new????

Well here is a full tank shot the a couple of pics of some bits that came on the rock.

Hi,

You do get bubbles in a new tank, but if they are still there after a week or so and are coming from the skimmer, adjust the amount of air. I have the MCE300 and you can get some bubbles if its not adjusted correctly.

The things that are appearing in the last shot are aiptasia, and are bad. When you get your cleaner crew, include 2 peppermint shrimps, they eat aiptasia. Other ways of removing include squirting with Joe's Juice or similar. Your LFS should have something.

I have a good 10 of them things is that normal will the shrip be able to combat the problem??? Also how are my test results?

Your shrimp will get them, mine got mine in a few days. Just be warned, a few select species of peppermint shrimp won't eat them but most will.

test results first you should have ammonia then nitrites then nitrates but if you bought your rock from a cycled tank like I did your cycle will be done really quickly

Yeah it was cured just bit concerned that my Nitrates are so high after such a short time.

As long as you get true peppermints you should be OK, Lysmata wurdemanni.

Stats should be a consistent 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, less than 20ppm nitrate, ph 7.8 - 8.3 before adding CUC. Yours are looking god at the moment. :good:

Unless you can get us a picture for id purposes, I'd get that hitchhiker crab out before you stock, whilst you can. I had one come on some coral, and it ate my peppermint shrimps and porcelain crabs and was an absolute nightmare to catch, so beware

if you go to my sig link some where in there ,there is a pic of my hitch hiker crab if you have a look at that and tell us if it looks like that we can help out a bit more?

Its hard to see him its a dark crb maybe blac or blue with red eyes and white bits by its mouth it also has tiny white dots on its pincer I do not know if it has them any where else as I have not seen it.

Looking pretty sweet, hope you can get rid of the aiptasia problem. Gee, all these hitch-hikers would make my head spin. :S

I have about 10 of these aiptasia am I going to hve a real problem on my hnds or will the shrimp cope with them?
