It's Tank 1....day 21 to day 22 the nitrite jumps to 5+ppm without you adding ammonia.
thanks for pointing this out..i wasnt adding what i dosed-that i HAD dosed..have rectified it now x

Looks fine but can you shed any light on why the nitrates keep jumping on tank 1. The only way to bring them down is a water change and plants(although plants using them up are what 5ppm day maybe) I assume it just the dodgy API kits which are bad at nitrates ?

any views on the last few days readings???

On tank 1 and 2 nitrite is doing exactly as expected. Mine did it. Once day I added ammonia next time I tested it was 5ppm+. I added more ammonia on the same day and the next day I had double zeros again.

good...as long as its doing what it should be .. got 2 different test results for ammonia tonight..with 2 diff test kits....annoying me now!

yep all going to plan so far from what i read. i will only use salifert test kits now that way i dont get dodgy readings

i won a Salifert NitRate on ebay for £7...waiting for it to arrive..they didnt have any Ammonia ones under £8

PH plummeted in Tank 2 again down to 6.6...so up'd with bicarb, the other tanks are fine. (7.4) I also got my new testtubes through the post today...so testing will be alot easier/quicker tonight!! :hyper:
wish i had some graph paper to plot out these readings...would be an intresting picture!!

I've been keeping a spreadsheet with a graph. It makes for interesting viewing.

I love the Salifert kits. you add 1 mil tank water to the little plastic canister(looks like the camera canisters you used years ago) add 3 drops of one and spoon of powder (all included in the kits) swirl it do not shake like a loon leave 3 min and compare the shades of pink :good:
