Fishheaded's Nano Tank

AZ, yikes. You're gonna want to install a fan or two into your hood to get the heat your lights produce out of the tank, and keep evaporation high to get your temps down. FOr a temmporary measure, just open the lid. Do you have any fish prone to jumping yet? (wrasses or gobies)

My tank has opening on the top, does that do anything or do I still needa get a fan?

If your temps are cool enough that way, then dont bother with the fan ;).

Ahh, I shall install a fan or two in there, I unpluged my heater, so hopefully it will go down a bit.

Nope, no jumping fish here. I don't even have my clean up crew yet. :D Hopefully my params are ok and gonna go and get those guys on Saturday. Will all these guys be too much to be bought all on the same day?

You should buy some and some so you dont end up with a whole bunch of dead snails (if that happens). Just test some out for the first week or few days and see how they do then try the second half. Thats what I would do but for me I just bought the whole entire lot :shifty:

ahh as i thought your enviroment was having an effect on your tank plus your lights, as ski says leave the lid open and think about getting some fans don't have that problem here in the uk for 90% of the year lol

Yup, until you get fans in there, just pop the hood, evaporation is your friend when trying to keep temps down :good:

Also, you can feel free to add all the cleanup crew at once. Make sure you acclimate your snails since they can be a little sensetive, but the hermits you can probably just plunk in there :)

Thats a lovely looking tank, keep us posted on its progress.

Love the live rock, a really nice size :D

Thanks for the comments guys, I unplugged my heater last night, so hopefully when I get home it will be lower.
I am going to get probably 4 snails and 2 hermits tomorrow. I can't wait :X
I have so much more algae now. :D
I have a coralife one watt moon light. Does anyone else have one, i'm wondering what how long should I leave it on after I turn off my lights.

Thank you, I sure will.

Am I an idiot, or could $150 buy a 75 gallon rectangular tank?

No buddy, your not an idiot. But the reason why it was 150, was because it was a stater kit, and came with a whole bunch of supplies. :good:

Lol, thats what I was gonna say, 150 is a load of money for a tank. Eventhough it was a starter tank with a bunch of supplies. What before I join the idiot club what supplies did it come with? :fun:

Well a filter and excess supplies triggered more towards FW. So I basically just used the tank, I guess when I first purchased it, I was too excited to go lookin around for a cheaper one. :/

Well anyways. When I got home I checked my temp and it was at 80.0 :D but, the lights are on and it is at about 81.2-81.7. Is this still too high?

Also when I looked at my tank, the substrate is now light brown everywhere? What is it?

And there is some algae, green and brown all over the LR.
I think tomorrow would be a good time to buy my clean up crew? :good:
