Sorry.

You don't have to have the RO unit permanently fitted somewhere. Others, get theirs out, plug it into the mains and away they go.

Though - this unit is more suited to point of use (drinking water) although it seems they added the DI unit on which isn't suitable for drinking. It fills the storage tank to a pressure then stops filling. You then have 8L of water instantly available (rather than waiting the X amount of hours/minutes for the amount you want, up to 8L). The control gear handles this - and doesn't often exist else where.

It actually seems like a good idea for a marine setup for auto top off - can keep your tank topped up mechanically without extra pumps/electronic controllers.

I will buy it in 2 weeks when i get a bit more cash (from manufacturer for warrnaty). Until then ill just have to oragnise to go to the LFS.

Any comments on the tank?

Im hoping to go the the LFS (two of them hopefully) after uni tomorrow. As i gota catch the bus and get of a few mins walk from each one. So ill go between them and see what they have in stock coral/fish wise :) I also need to order the rest of my Cuc. These brown diatoms are moving onto the floor now. The red one has stopped growing on my glass, and appears that the angle is making himself a good feed out of the red one on the rocks, or the water change helped alot :D

Ive got to source them first! :D

My LFS dont deal with snails or anything that ive seen anyway. Few urchins are there though, but i hear they eat coralline?

I will keep you guys posted tomorrow and see how i go. Hopefully my LFS can get me some pulsing xenia, going to ask for it :D Going to try find some turbos online, and something to turn my sand over? What clean up crew members would be good for sand turn over? Just as the basic/standard clean up crew.

Thanks :) Will have to source them online.

One of my LFS has not got any cuc and barely anything good in, and the other LFS which was a great one has moved somewhere :| Now i dont know where, damnit!

Time to scout out good online stores that sponsor aussie reef forums i guess.

So no updates today as nothing new happening. Apart form seeing my shrimp last night and just today after uni :D

Ok back for an update :D

Decided to scout online. Found some corals that were cheap and on sale from a reputable OLFS. So i bought them, one is a metalic green Pocillopora Frag and the other is about 10-15 polyps of a bright green zooanthids (just going to have to be super careful with these guys..).

Also had a look around and found that i cant get much clean up crew online either lol... However, did find that i can buy Stromubs snails, trochus snails, and turbo snails. Thinking about buying 5 turbos and probably 10 trochus (they give a 20% discount if you buy 10 so i get a few for free :p). What do you guys think about this addition to the clean up crew?

Corals should be here tomorrow or friday (trying to get them same day courier, waiting on a return on my email).

Well corals wont be sent till tuesday for wednesday delivery so no updates on them for a few days. Sorry guys and girls.

Ive managed to source some xenia online, only downside is postage is gona cost me the same as the coral... So i had a chat with the seller (fresh OLFS but highly recomended by lots of people as he was a private seller for quite a while), and he said he can help m eouta little and reduce it a bit. But i may buy a few more corals that i find that i like and get him to post them out to me on monday :) So lots of corals coming on hopefully :p Well 3 atleast next week :)

Not much else to update yet unfortunately my good/favourite LFS has moved and i cannot seem to get in touch with them to grab the new address. No licence sucks :(

Ok well had a chat with an OLFS. Have decided to go ahead with my order with him, his a great guy. However is sydney based, so anyone from australia PM me if your interested in his name for corals/fish/accesories :)

Anyway, i have ordered a pulsating blue xenia (for cheaper then ive seen anywhere else in australia :D), a garden variety zoa rock (which looks like its about ~20 polyps of a few different colours) and he said he would chuck in a free small zoa rock for me (so his going to get a few more customers in the next few days, plus a few order from me in the future!). These should come in monday.

Also ordered, a green zoa rock (looked to be about ~15 polyps from the pictures), and a small SPS frag. The SPS is a Metallic Green Pocillopora Frag attached to a coral plug. These should get here wednesday.

Assuming that htey arive on these dates will make it perfect for me as im home early from university these days (Prior to the after noon, my place gets deliveries from the couriers that are bringing my corals around the 2-3pm mark which is good for me :D).

So will update on the monday :)

Came home from work today and found hundreds of small white bugs on my tank glass, some moving around. They are tiny, <1 mm probably. No way are they bigger.

Quick google search shows they are pods! Copepods! Looks like them without a magnifying glass to look at them which i dont own :p But looks like them via the pics and my eyes lol.

Anyone know of any way to remove some of these to start a culture for myself? Was thinking about trying a shot glass over them then sliding it around slowly so they go into the glass but i dont think that will work to well... Any ideas on how i can remove myself a few or alot of them. Also saw a couple in the refugium but i have no macro or light over that yet so hard to see anything.

So incase you dont want to read the top bit, How can i get the copepods of my front, back and side panels without killing them so i can start and maintain a culture externally?

How about putting in a glass jar with some live rock rubble in, leave for a few days and the pods will probably colonise - woo hoo

Seffie x

Hmm that will ahve to happen tomorrow because i cant use a hammer to make the live rock rubble at 11.05pm at night :D

Off to siphon the glass into a 5L bottle and see what happens :D Maybe i can get some out in which case, time to set up some cultures.

Are pods normaly <1mm in size? Seems like a small food for mandarins to be eating lol.

Walked into my garage and looked into my box of fishy items. Found some airline tubing, so decided to try and siphon the pods out... And well it worked i think lol. Siphoned out about 4.5L of water into a 5L bottle i use for easier top up. Put a torch on the bottle now to see how many pods i can find. So far i see 100's of tiny things floating the water, maybe half of them are actualy moving though.

So good sign Lets see if i can culture them now... Assuming i do acutaly have pods :D

Any good culturing pod links? Back to google i go.
