Cuddling Bettas

Now I know why TFF doesn't have "The friendliest fish forum around" on it's banned anymore - because it's not what it used to be... Every time somebody posts anything that goes against somebody's believes, s/he gets shouted at and everybody jumps on the hate train... How uncivilized can you be?

Thankyou! :good:

seperate them if they are fighting, but if they arent tearing each other appart then i guess you dont have to worry then. you do get stories of peaceful malawi cichlids, and normally agressive fish swimming with peaceful community fish. its rare, but it does happen. haha for example, i have cherry barbs with my angelfish, which as a general recommendation is not advised because barbs generally like to nip fins. but my angelfish does exceptionally well because of his fast swimming, high tempered nature. he doesnt take crap from the barbs, and they leave him alone. so i guess it comes down to the aquarist. mix and match fish, see which ones have the temprement you are looking for.

I can remember many, many years ago, when I were a lad, my Dad had a small fish tank.
I am talking late 60's early 70's.

In those days tropical fishkeeping was in its infancy in this country, and if you saw a fish that looked pretty, you'd simply buy it and bung it into your grossly overstocked community tank.

Well, my Dad got himself a lovely blue SFF, and because I liked it so much, the following weekend he went and got me a brilliant red SFF.

The two lived together in harmony for many months in amongst Angelfish, Kribs, and a multitude of other unlikely tankmates, but back in those days, for some unknown reason tropical fish didn't survive for very long anyway...

Why the hell is this topic still here? Prob shoulda been deleted by now. Couple of funny posts in here but this is getting a little crazy.....

Well... although some people got a bit too harsh and mean... I think everyone is just worried about the fishes' well being.

It's just not common to hear about bettas living in harmony with eachother, so it shocks alot of people to see it. If it's working though, then awesome. They have what alot of people wish they could get heh.

I would suggest putting more plants into both of those tanks though. ALOT more! I'm sure all of those fish would just love to explore a lush tank full of live plants. I know the bettas would love it

Yeah, I think I will just stay out of this one. Just wanted to get this across to you though, if its working, you can leave it be if you wish. If its not working, dont try to make it work :good: Not gonna bash you because you are doing things the "Unforgivable way". Heck, I used to let my plakats spar every month and a half for a minute, thats not the right way either, but they lived pretty damn long for a betta. You can bash me all you want, but I dont really care because im slowly leaving freshwater anyways. Just waiting for my 5 year old bronze cory to pass away because I dont really want to get give her away.

What 'hate train'? I do find it tiring that people go on about 'hate trains' and 'bandwagons', we're not all sheep and we each are entitled to our own opinions. No one's shouting at anybody. Nowadays if you have the same opinion as the poster above you you're accused of jumping on this metaphorical 'hate train'

There is an issue with that. Its common that they seem to be doing well, then bam. Too late. I would hardly say that if its very common for one fish to kill another you can let them be together and not have to worry.

I just think its not normal that there are so many stories of Bettas living "well" together than one decides to kill the other, but people still insist on keeping them together. Then again its obvious that yours might flip and kill one another, but mine wont  .

Looks like a sheep has wandered from its herd.
