Cuddling Bettas

If the OP says the fish are fine and you can see no positive proof they are fighting/have injuries then you're all jumping to conclusions. There are exceptions to every "rule" in fish keeping. Do you know this person does not keep these two bettas in 180g tank, no?

The fish could easily rest on the floating wood for breathing, as they seem to be doing, not struggling to reach the surface, you can't see the rest of the tank, don't immediately think there are no other places for them to rest i.e. plants.

They look stressed? He's just turned on the lights, often fish will be washed out when the lights are first turned on, they've been in near darkness normally and aren't fully coloured up.

Piranha can also be kept with small fish. So maybe I would try them with a guppy, it wouldn't see it as worth the effort to chase and kill to eat. ;)

Yet more idiots on the forum jumping to conclusions and telling people they are wrong again without fully knowing the circumstances.....

So True :good:

Ermh, this 'mrbudgie' guy also thinks keeping an Osphronemus gourami and a Myxocyprinus asiaticus in a 6ft tank is acceptable..
So if he is into cramming potentially 2-3ft fish into a 6ft then I can't find it in me to have much hope for these bettas.

Whatever, play the devil's advocate if you like jayjay, I'm bored of typing to a brick wall.

Myxocyprinus asiaticus was given back to shop, you knew that OFCOURSE, and the Osphronemus is fine will will be fine in the 6fter for longer, but you obviously know my long termplans for the fish so you assume i will keep it in there, are you Mystic Meg by any chance..........

thanks other posters for a bit of support, this forum used to be a good friendly place to read, post and share, it not seeming like that any more

Too many people jump up on the high horse too quick to gain points in knowing that they are right, fail to realise abusing dosent help.... (I use to be on ;))

Abusing was not on my agenda, informing was.

Many people keep GG's in 6' tanks, I don't know the actual circumstances behind this, how wide is this 6' tank? And apparently the Myxocyprinus has been moved now as you can obviously see from previous posts in this thread.

Devils advocate? Hardly, just stopping people 'jumping' on others when they don't know everything about what they are being shown.

It's a nice picture anyway, what size tank are they in?

I'm not jumping to conclusions but I wouldn't describe that activity as 'cuddling', they do look a bit stressed with clamped fins.

But whatever works for you.

edit:  that plec is very well camoflaged, spot the plec lol.

if i woke up to find any of my fish like this, i would be worrying...
And both look very stressed with depleated colouration.

Although you might not have had a "disaster" as yet, rehome either one, if you choose not to, that in itself is pure ignorance. You've had the advice of many experianced fish keepers already. Im not going to argue with anyone, im just saying to rehome it for the benefit of the fish, becuase the day you have that "disaster" its going to be a disaster too many for your fish im afraid...

my first thought was they dont look well atall :p Still, glad it made you happy :)

A lot of very knowledgeable people hang out on this forum but sadly that doesn't always mean they have life skills like manners, respect for others and influencing skills. Surely nothing should ever be posted here that you wouldn't say to someone's face, it's not what you say it's about the language you use and the way you say it. I for one don't intend to visit here again for a few months in the hope that in the interval things improve and I can come here without walking into a slanging match. Being correct doesn't give you the right to be arrogant and rude and if you really want to influence people you should try being polite about it and mixing something positive in with what may be a negative point. This post does not refer to any particular post in this thread nor even to this thread in particular just the general tone of far too much of this forum, bye for now guys. I'll look in again in a while and see if the atmosphere is any more to my taste.

I am sorry for all that think the fish look so unwell, but I am quite amazed how much you "seem" to be able to tell from a not the most sharpest picture taken on a mobile phone.

second thoughts Maybe I'll ring nasa and say hey get rid of that old hubble telescope and i'll post them my phone :yahoo:
