I've worked in one of those customer facing jobs and sometimes the job is so horribly, mind crushingly dull that speaking to the customers has been the only thing keeping me sane. Sorry if you take offence when someone shows a minute of friendliness while they serve you.
One of my pet peeves is smokers just lighting up wherever. Have some respect for the people around you. I don't want to breathe in smoke that can cause cancer. You wouldn't like it if I was to start wafting asbestos in your direction.
Funny how there's a rant just a page earlier where someone's saying "Don't like it? Don't breathe." LOL!
My mother's smoking 1-2 packs a day. WHOLE. She has no more job, but she spends a huge portion of my dad's salary on them and sometimes borrows money from me, only to ask my dad to give me the money she borrowed. -.-
I don't smoke / drink alcohol or coffee, don't do drugs... but I do use up the following:
water for the fish (and to shower / wash dishes)
electricity (computer, tank lights, filter and microwave oven and that's it)
drinking water
internet (cheap, $14 or so for a whole month of high speed internet, one of the good things in Romania).
food (lasts 2 days, sometimes 5 and is cheap anyway)
rarely do I get fruit or ice cream. VERY rarely.
then there's that fish food once every 3 months, pretty cheap too.
And I have $14 stashed away in case my filter crashes, or whatever I might need for the fish.
Only problem is that I have no health insurance, so if I get badly sick...
Oh crap.
My mother's list of things that she uses:
cigarettes ($84 a month, maybe more)
coffee (no idea how much it costs but she drinks it daily, in spite of her health problems and doctors warning her to stop)
pills for diabetes monthly (she wouldn't have had diabetes if she would have eaten properly and not replace food with cigarettes and coffee and she's always eating TWO meals a day only, which involves jam in the morning and fish or chicken or beef / minced meat or sausages in the evening or just a cheese sandwich).
pills for cholesterol monthly (eating the skin of chicken, with tons of bread, is what causes fat to accumulate anyway, in addition to being sedentary, she barely moves but when I ask her to come with me for a walk, she's mostly reluctant).
Oh yeah, and the food: her jam costs more than my chicken wings. And then there's whatever meat, sometimes I share my roasted chicken legs with her, or cooked fish.
And the annoying part is that she smokes on the balcony while the door is open and the smoke gets inside the house during summer. -.- Can't close door, the house will become a microwave oven at 40C+... Even with the fan and cooler.
Heck, when I was a kid, my mother used to smoke while holding me in her arms. Good thing dad thought it would be a good idea to take me in his arms, away from her.
