Anyone Want To Rant? About Anything? I Do.

1st day today I walk my new friends puppy & it persists down, where did the sunshine go?

We want to adopt a cat right now and can't because the humane society charges $70!!!! We can't even save a homeless cat :(

Which leads me to the $100 I spent in useless fish medication, and then extra $50 in supposedly "good" fish medication that is coming UPS Ground which takes SIX DAYS!!!! My fish has some kind of parasite that kills one a day!!! I ordered it Friday but no shipping on weekends so it shipped yesterdays. That puts my death toll at 9 fish by the time the new meds come. Not including the ones I lost this month before getting a "diagnoses" or guesstimate of one.

I want to sell every scrap of fish crap and junk the hobby. Wasted money my kids would have appreciated I think.

It was a bunch of different ones. I tried 4 different parasite medications from stores, and one from online. Finally the last order was from the Fish pharmacy and should hopefully do the trick according to the consultation line. :-( :S

My rant for the day

Stupid checkout women (who are old enough to be my mother so I would guess know about shopping and groceries) who think that the biodegrable plastic bags they put all your groceries in are indestructable. :grr: . News flash people :hyper: they are not and I am sick

of them shoving close to 5kgs or more of product (especially when its glass jars) into the one bag, only to have that same bag tear/ rip/ develop a hole and while I am juggling the bags inside my house have the bag finally give up its ghost and the contents all smnash to the floor. And to rub salt into the wound if I am so brazen to put a carton of 24 cans of coke on the convor belt they say "can you not put that up here its too heavy for me to lift"....oh but apparently its fine for you to cause me a hernia and waste my money by putting too many heavy things into one bag.
Let alone their insanely maddening habit of mixing cold goods with pantry goods, poisonous cleaning products that have been known to leak in with fresh fruit and vege, a bag of heavy potoatos on top of a loaf of bread or better still ripe tomatos. I always put like products together as I put them on the convar belt eg pet food with pet food, all cold goods together, I even leave gaps between each grouping......So why the HELL can't they pack the items in the bags the same way???????

And while I am on the subject of shopping, what would posses the powers that be to start making firstly annoucements that "the shop is closing in 15 minutes please make your way to the checkouts", only to be closely follwed by "we have these items on special, make sure you get them" and while this is going on have checkouts unmanned making the shoppers line up like cattle to the slaughter and not open up more checkouts so that the shop can close in their alloted time. But then I guess that would too easy.....I guess its much more fun to have 2 checkouts out of 15 open, make all the people wait and listen to the ever decreasing amount of shopping time left.

That's why my girlfriend does all the shopping!

My rant is this foooool on Facebook, he has made a group and someone added me to it. He's got lots of big goldfish, now I mean really big and some fancy goldfish in there too. The tanks 4ft and its not even 3/4 filled with water. He has a 300w heater in the tank which he said is on as high as it goes (I'm assuming 32 degrees) and he bought a common plec yesterday, a small one he said. Then posted another picture with another, larger common plec which seems over 10 inches and whilst I and others have said they shouldn't be kept together and the goldfish definitely will not benefit in such warm water all I keep getting in response is "OK COOL" or "THANKS"
He's made this group himself as I believe he got told the same by another group he's a member of. He hasn't actually done anything about the heater and when told that the plec would get far too big for his tank and should be kept with goldfish he went out and got another.
Worse still is that others are keeping their goldies at the same temperature as him or a bit lower. I'm serious when I say the tank is far too over crowded and all the questions he's asking shows he doesn't really have much proper experience in fishkeeping alothough he has said the goldfish have been kept in these water conditions by him for years.
If he was in front of me I really don't know what I'd do. He can't spell the word 'picture' correctly and writes 'pichers' instead. Even that's doing my head in.

Anyway...... What's the deal with this crazy weather? The kids are off school for easter and its too cold to take them outside to the park or any local forests or even a afternoon out helping in the garden which they enjoy apart from the grumpy, hormonal 16yr old where the only thing that comes out of his mouth is that he's bored (I hate that word) or can he have money.

So why the HELL can't they pack the items in the bags the same way???????
Can't you pack your own shopping? I realise that could be taken the wrong way, I'm not meaning to stir you up further, I'm genuinely curious, can you not pack your own shopping over there? I always pack my own shopping because of this very reason - they say "would you like a hand?" I say "No thanks" and do it myself. That way everything ends up in the right bags. Can you not do the same?

Sometimes people just don't want to be helped.

I won't let them pack my bags either, including when you get a charity doing all the packing. Even my husband knows better than to help me pack, he just holds the bags open for me.
I also take my own bags to the supermarket. My handbag is full of those 'bags for life'. Nice and strong, they hardly ever break just develop holes from over use. And just in case, we have some even stronger ones in the car boot for when we want something really heavy.

The way the tills are set up and the extra wide convar belt and no room at the other end of the checkout area means the only way I could pack my own groceries is if I went around behind the checkout and stood behind the girl/ woman as she scans everything. Because I do fortnightly shops I end up filling the convar belt before they have even started scanning the products, and I am madly loading up more groceries as they do start scanning the stuff.
Franklins (a no frills shop that used to be trading around 15 years ago) used to give you the option of bagging the groceries (they even had people just to bag the stuff up) or loose. But they had all their supply boxes out the front of the shop with a large bench and you could grab any boxes of different sizes and then box up your groceries yourself without holding up the checkout area.

Even if I did use earth bags (please don't get me started on them), I would still have to hand them all over to the checkout person so they can put one bag at a time in their bagging up spot, it is an even slower more frustrating process than having them put the groceries into plastic bags. I recycle the plastic bags anyway they become my household rubbish bags, or packing material around fragile gifts to people. Plus I see no reason to buy $10 plastic bags wholey and soley to put rubbish in and be thrown out.
I am lucky that my husband comes along for the "fun" of doing the grocery shop because while I am unloading the first trolley he is putting the bagged stuff into a spare trolley, if you don't do this they start putting all the bags on the floor behind them, because there is literally no bench room behind the till area.

I think what made me so extra mad at Woolworths last night too was the fact that every isle in the store had new stocks unpacked and loose scattered all over the floor reducing isle room to one trolley one way and even then playing dodgems from one side of the isle to the other. And as every grocery shopper knows those willfull trollies as they get filled up get more headstrong and more unwilling to be manuvoured easily.

Supermarkets here are set up differently. The cashier scans the items then they go into a bagging area for the customer to pack. Some shops ask if you need help and they'll call for someone to pack for you. The exception is Aldi. There is a very tiny area for the scanned items, you are supposed to put everything straight back into the trolley then go to the bagging shelf once you've paid. But no cashier ever packs the bags, the customer is expected to do it.

actually yes... my teenage son just brought down a mountain of washing from his bedroom!

when i say mountain i mean like 5 arm fulls.... he knocked against the fridge going into the kitchen proceeded to wobble it enough to send huge thick glass ( heavy) candle holder flying off the top..

poor innocent me was standing making coffee and just got stabbed in the back of the ankle by a very large shard of thick glass...

needless to say he can mop the floor and do his own flaming washing! hope this wont need stitches
