Anyone Want To Rant? About Anything? I Do.

I usually tell them I don't have a computer as I can't afford one. They go quiet and hang up......

My rant for today is people who are breeding mutt dogs and selling them for hundreds of dollars! How is this allowed to happen? Just saw "Jack in the Box" puppies for ... wait for it ... $250 each!!! What the ...?

Argh I hate that too.
A friend of mine has just paid £750 for a cockerpoo, basically a crossbreed between a poodle & a cocker spaniel.
I absolutely hate these so called designer dogs that are basically mutts

People that boast about how good they are at something, when there's those select few that know how bad they really are!!!!!!
Example. A kid at my school brags about how he's the best baseball player on his travel team and when he pitches he strikes everyone out. I used to play with him in rec ball. he still plays there so no travel team. He plays the outfield in rec ( sadly that's where they put the bad kids) and he can't pitch whatsoever.

Rant over

Yes, we call those cockapoos. The Jack in the Box is a Jack Russell terrier and Boxer. The big craze here right now is a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a Chihuahua. A Yorkichi. Yech. The best one I've heard of is a labradoodle, a Labrador retriever and a poodle. They're great because they're as mellow as a lab, but don't shed and they don't need regular haircuts.

Regardless, they're all mutts! I just don't know where people get off charging hundreds of dollars for them! I'm just trying to find a pair of Siamese cats, and I can't find anything resembling what used to be regarded as a true Siamese. There's no such thing as a "long-haired Siamese" or a peach point or any one of a number of other atrocities I keep finding.

Okay, NOW my rant is over!

I lost a fish in an odd way. My spouse was hoovering around the house and on some point took the headpart off so he could reach to narrow places. One of our siamese algae eater fell out, dead of course. We have no idea how it has gotten in to our vacoom cleaner, since they're not even small, and we haven't noticed a fish missing before this.

We know that sometimes they might jump out of tanks if the top glasses have even a small place to go out to, and our tank is open on top, so it must have jumped out. When, we don't know, it must have been when we haven't been at home or we have been sleeping since we haven't noticed anything, seen the fish on the floor or anything.

It's still a great mystery how we haven't seen it on the floor before founding it from the cleaner, it really is!

People who ask loads of questions wanting advice & then ignore all the advice given & do what they want to anyways, with possibly disastrous results

Amen to that. I'm sure a lot of people sign up here and ask loads of questions because everyone's doing it and it seems fun. It does annoy me though when people ask questions for the sake of the question and not because they need help. I hate it when you can tell that people aren't going to act on any of the advice given to them.

I hate "designer" dogs which are just run off the mill cross breeds. BUt what I hate more is a person having a so called pedigree (eg staffy) and another pedigree staffy neither with paper work, neither of them registered with the kennel club and breeding these two dogs that possibly are pedigree but really low grade and not show quality and then fobbing off the offspring to unseuspecting buyers. I had one friend who thought she would make a mint buy getting herself a pure bred staffy (but saved herself on the cost of getting the paperwork) and then wanted to get a female to breed and sell the pups for around $500 each. I tried telling her that only a qualified show dog that has been in the ring and won awards/ points will ever make any money in the breeding department, and even then the mating needs to be recorded with the kennel club to make it all official. Thankfully she never did get around to adding to the ever increasing dog population, but there are hundreds like her still out there. :grr:

Now my question.... what on earth would posses somebody to cross a Jack Russell Terrier with a Boxer ????    . A box, great wonderful dogs if prone to a few health defects but otherwise a good dog. Jack Russells on the other hand (well I am not a small dog breed fan anyway) are one of my least liked dogs because nine times out of ten if a dog is going to try and bite me its one of this snappy little blighters.

+1 please don't get me started on so called designer dogs, or anyone just breeding for profit.
I have bred, shown & worked dogs all my life, only ever breeding when I needed a new dog for myself & only choosing the best possible bloodlines.
I have bred many show champions & field trial champions
I wish something could be done to stamp out indiscriminate breeding & puppy farms

Another doggie rant is I know a person who purchased a 'pedigree' lab (again I think they didn't bother paying the extra for the supposid paper work, and it was from a Pet shop any way), this dog ended up having an accidental mating and having a litter of pups. This genious person then decided that because the pups looked like labs that was what they would sell the pups as. Not Lab X's like they where and would have been the correct way to off load them, instead they saw the almighty $$$$ signs and wanted to fob them of as pure lab. I pity who ever did buy the pups because in our area we have a LOT of pigging dogs. Pigging dogs are multi cross bred dogs usually with Irish wolfhound, mastiff, bull arab, sometimes greyhound and even pit bull or staffy and Rotti for good measure that are bred and used wholey and soley for the hunting and killing of feral pigs. So you can see if it was a pigging dog that got to the Lab the pups really could have ended up looking like any sort of freaky monster.

Which brings me to "rehoming fees." It's the new ripoff here in the states. You can put any animal up for grabs, but then the owners will post a rehoming fee, anywhere from $50 to hundreds. Only keeping the best interests of the pet in mind, of course. Right ...

Although the dog licensing fee we used to have here in the uk didn't work as it wasn't enforceable, some sort if licensing should be brought in, maybe through micro chipping, if it was compulsory & subject to random testing that could stop a lot of the indiscriminate breeding/selling
Hate is a strong word & not one I use easily, but I do hate anyone who breeds dogs for financial gain
Every one I ever bred I had contact with it's owners until the day it died, I still have all the photos they sent me

Easter hols. 2 weeks. Need I say more.
The weather. Basking in glorious sunshine last week. Freezing and pelted with hailstones this week.
