One of the most annoying lfs moments today, argh!!
We went to our local shop for tank supplies, so while my bf was looking for what we needed i wandered over to look at the fish. Across stomps an oldish couple, maybe late 60s demanding a member of staff to show them the red and blue tetras. The lady serving politely showed them to the neons and explained they were £1.40 each. The lady complained that they should sell her some for a discount as other shops offer five for a fiver etc. The lady explained that they no longer sell like that to prevent people from overcrowding as few people can resist a bargain.
The lady huffed and then said alright well take 4. The staff lady then said ok, why 4? To which the customer said well we had 5 but 4 died.staff asked do you know why to which the lady said no. The staff mentioned water quality to which the lady took offence, there is nothing wrong with my water, they were just bad fish!!
And heres where i would have kicked her out immediately....
The lady got 4 tetras in the bag, sealed it and showed the old lady to proove there were 4. One was in the corner of the bag and the old lady insisted it was dead! She then proded the bag hard and then shook it until all the tetras were frantically darting around! I couldnt believe my eyes. If i was the staff i would have taken them off her and told her to go.
Its fairly cold today so the couple were advised to get home as soon as they could to avoid stress to the fish.the old lady then held up the queue telling the staff about her broken freezer and other various unimportant matters. About 5 mins later she decided to leave after her husband shouted at her about holding the queue up.
I feel so bad for those fish, they dont stand a chance.
