i swapped around my filters today, i put the canister filter on the 20g which is the perfect ratio, and took her internal filter and put in my 40g
also added polyfibre to the sponge filters(internal)
after 2hours heres the latest results

my tank
ammonia: 2ppm
nitrites: .50ppm
nitrates: 5ppm
partners tank
ammonia: .50ppm
nitrites: .50ppm
nitrates: 20ppm

Hi Rewlyn,
I would recommend using the tetra aquasafe for getting the chlorine out of your water.
I had problems with my fish in cycle and only noticed a difference when i changed to this.
What i liked about it is it has a blueish tint so that you know that it is evenly mixing with the water.
The blue tint goes away after a few minutes.
Some of the problem i had i guess could of been down to not mixing correctly.
Just my experiance.

Just to check, has anyone suggested a filter boost? Its like yacult friendly bacteria, but for your tank (dont use actual yacult). I tried to read it all to see but got to page 6 and my eyes started to hurt.

Also if you have any fish keeping friends or you lfs, getting them to part with even like half a sponge or something would be good for your tank.
Transport media like fish though, in a bag with tank water.

this filter boost whats it called and can you get it from lfs, and only got lfs and eventhough were mates he still wont give any out, live in country town
and he still got to make money, every time i go to town i forget to ask
