nitrItes: 0ppm
nitrAtes: 0ppm
looking the norm
im also doing my partners 20gal her readings are
ammonia: 1ppm
nitrItes: 0ppm
nitrAtes: 5ppm
i think im getting somewhere in her tank at least

Yeah, it looks like you are getting a little nitrAte reading there, that is a good sign!

ammonia: 0-.25ppm
nitrites: .25ppm
nitrates: 5-10ppm
at this rate ill be able to use hers to cycle mine
could i swap some tank water from hers to mine and vise versa?

The water in the tank holds no beneficial bacteria.

99% of the bacteria live in the filter, while the remaining 1% of the bacteria are scattered among the decor and substrate.

But if hers cycles before yours does, you can just take some of her filter media and place it in your filter.

no im not, the only difference is her tank gets less attention
im checking hers about once a week and lately been doin the same on mine for about 7-10 days
if you see todays and yesterdays ammonia readings on my tank youl see thats its dropped overnight
good thing is i havent touched it for 3 days except to retrieve my dead aratus all the ammonia readings over
the last 4 days is from the dead fish and now its going down its starting to do what my missus tankis doing
i think the tanks want to be independant and do it them selves

Well, if that works for you I say go for it.

The ammonia readings are not too bad, and if they keep going down like that, than tomorrow it will be good.

It is just so strange that there is no NitrIte or NitrAte readings at all

howdy guys im back from the outback the break was good anyhow yesterdays readings
ammonia: 1ppm
nitrites0ppm
partners tank did not change from last friday
i just took 1 of her filters for the media and put it in my internal filter
ill do a test in a couple of hours
have not done a w/c for 7 days now

ammonia: 1ppm
nitritres: 0ppm
nitrates: 5-10ppm

partners tank
ammonia: .25-.50ppm
nitrites: .25ppm
nitrates: 5-10ppm

i also put 1.5 doses of CYCLE in both tanks
