Ammonia Levels High

With that filter it will put your 7x turn over, which is what you want, and that is good!

Personally I have not been in the hobby long enough to know about ALL the filter brands out there, so, I would Highly recommend you start a new post in the Tropical Discussion section asking other members about this filter, and if it is any good.

Tell them about your current setup, tank size, fish etc, and that you already have an 800 LPH filter.

Give them a link to the filter so they can check it out.

This way you will know for sure if it is worth your money.

If they say that it is not a good filter, they will probably tell you to get a different kind of canister filter, which could get really expensive ($200+). So unless you wai just wkacked the thread in the tropical discussion section

thanks and will keep you postednt to spend more, I wold suggest to get an Aquaclear 110 power filter, this is a really good filter that you will like a lot. It is not a canister filter, it is a HOB (Hang on back) filter, but it still a really good filter!

So, make a thread asking about that filter!

Personally I would say go for it, it would not be on the market if it was crap, well maybe ...

i just wkacked the thread in the tropical discussion section

thanks and will keep you posted

The canister or HOB are excellent choices and both easy to service filters. Again not sure on the brand however there is a lot of difference between countries and we don't alsways get the same filters.

Good luck with that.

my ammonia levles are still high due to over stocking ive been told
which is all good but what if i cant reduce the size of my stock

I would say you tank is right at the max limit, maybe a little over.

If you can't reduce the stocking amount, it is very important to over filter the tank, by adding a larger filter than required.

If you were to get that one filter you have found, I would say that would do the job.

latest resultsfor ammonia, nitrites are

this morning(about 5hrs ago) ammonia 4pmm nitries 0pmm

hour and a half ago(after 2 50% water changes) ammonia 1pmm nitrites 0pmm

will have next results in about 45 minutes

If you dont start to see Nitrites in another week, I would say stop using the ammolock.

When you got that nitrite reading the other day of .25ppm, were you adding ammolock then?

not from memory and the only reason im using it is it insures my fish dont die

if i stop will i lose some fish and is there a way around that without using ammolock

Well, we will see in a week or so.

The ammolock might be change the ammonia source into an un-usable food source for the bacteria, in which case will kill them off.

Som if you dont see any nitrites in a week or two, I would suggest to stop using ammolock.

More water changes is the key to keeping you fish safe if you stop using ammolock.

checked ammonia levels and they have only gone up to 2pmm(istead of walking on the moon) YAY
Thats good!

I would personally stop using ammolock if you can.

Are you getting any nitrite readings yet?

Yea, you are going to want to form some sort of routine, one in which you are going to have to figure out.

Something to keep the ammonia, and when it becomes present, nitrite down at or below .25 ppm!

So that when you wake up in the morning to do a WC, your ammonia and/or nitrite is not much over .25 ppm.
