7 Foot, 1074 Litres, 284 Gallons.

well the stand is made of 15 mm laminated chip board.
i, as a cabinet maker, would look at the stand and not think it would hold but, here, as proof, it does!
if my calculations are correct 1 litre of water = 1 kiligram, there fore it holds just over a metric ton in water, the tank weighs at least 500 kilograms so, that stand holds well over 1.5 ton, id consider it reasonably strong.
its the uprights that make its strength, and the back that holds it square i suppose, i wouldn't say no to a bet you could put a car on this also and it would hold it. its made by a company called aqua stands and was custom made, aswel as the tank its self. i wouldn't have it sat in my dining room if i thought it wasn't more than strong enough to hold it!

yeah ben i doubt he is going to send me 1 for free! id more then happily order another female and pay for it, but i payed £35 each for them but the p+p of £3o would make it £65 so not worth it, he sends with jm curriers so i think the least he could do is send 1 for free and i'll pay for the ray, at the end of the day he guranteed me 2 females and 1 male, even the receipt says so, and he hasn't, not saying its his fault as its quite hard to tell really but still, it isn't my fault either!
i emailed him anyway, will wait and see what he says!

Dave

annoying when they are such easy fish to sex as well!!!

in relation to the eels I wouldn;t mix a fire and a tyre track they can get pretty visious wit heach other

well yeah they are fairly easy to sex, the males are obvious!
They just got some 12 inch fire eels today at the lfs for £12 so might get another. They ok with each other? Mine is about 12 inch now too. Im still waiting for a reply from steve at essex aquatics about the rays as im not happy with 2 males!
I think im going to buy some small tiger fish to grow on and maybe try a flagtail distichodus, if i get on il keep an eye on it, if it tries sucking the rays it will go back!

Nice Rays Dave!
It's kewl how they bury themselves under the sand and you can only see their eyes. Make a video if u can, would be nice to see them in action :hyper: Good luck with them.

Hope they can sort you out another female.

As for the eels, my Tyre Track and Fire Eels are getting along fine - for now at least BUT they are still young - the TT is biggest at close to 12" the Fire Eels are about 11" and 8". I'm hoping they remain peaceful as they grow but no guarantees they will.

They do hang out together a fair bit, even sharing a pipe (it is funny to see 3 heads sticking out) the TT thinks he's an Oscar though LOL.

Worth trying the flagtail, they are lovely fish.

Dave that guy in Nuneaton who is selling the 5 RTG Arows is getting desperate to get them shifted, he is redusing the price each week, as far as i know

Never Mind Add has gone this morning, must have sold them

I had a fire eel kill a 12 inch tyre track and I don;t think I have ever seen such vindictive behaviour in a fish he really went to town on it and it was relentless but I suppose its different for different fish

I didn;t have a problem with my flagtail and my ray but then like an idiot I read the threads about it and sold the flagtail for a bargain price... loved that fish as well

simon, how big was your tire trak compared to the fire eel? They have some 12" fire eels in the lfs now so might just get another one of them.
The flagtails, iv seen some which are more or less just black and silver and some with a fair bit of red/orange on them so im just going to wait until i find one of the more colourful ones. Will see what the lfs comes up with next week!
Was going to get that flagtail from bas jen but decided not to, if it was one of the more colourful ones i think i would have got it.
On a good note i saw the female ray eat a few bloodworms before, a few is better than none i suppose!
Still want the subject of two males to be sorted though, maybe i should buy a slightly larger female else where and that should keep the males happy!
The two males are different, the smaller male, and the female, both have mottled circle patterning, but the bigger male has like a mottled 'scribbled' pattern, i think the patterns do vary a bit so at least i have slightly different ones!

Oh gill, that guy had 5 rtg aro's and a super red, he said i could have the super red for £500, which is really cheap, especially for an 18 inch super red. But i never had the cash, and so they must be sold now! Never mind, im pretty sure more will come up sooner or later. Really want to save and get one of the blue base cross backs!

got my mits on the girlfriends 12.1 mega pixel sony cybershot thing so thought id take a few cheeky pictures!

Dave

hey
rays look sweet! also did you say you were going to stock this tank with a tiger shovelnose? if so hows that coming along?

no not a tiger shovel nose, i want a zebra shovelnose, there was one on the classifieds yesterday at 13" for £275 but i just don't have the cash at the moment, well gutted!
yeah the rays are doing well, still trying to look for another female reasonably near to me but having no luck! nevermind!
i have got the guy who has the lfs looking for a colourful flagtail prochilodus, as some are basically just black and silver but i want one of the ones with loads of red!
also in a couple of weeks im going to go to bas and buy the big L014 sunshine plec, its stunning and been there for ages so hopefully he will give it to me for less that the £140 its priced up at! ha

Dave

Looks fab, the rays are so sweet at that size! Did the guy ever get back to you about you getting 2 males not 2 females? Is the female eating well now?

no, he aint got back to me yet. and no the female isn't eating well. i assume it is eating bits as its not dead and still swims about but is quite skinny. i am looking for another female for the males but can't find any round here, so if anyone see's any in the lancashire area give me a shout!!

GOOD PICS

Try Pier for the flagtail they have one pretty much in every tank the one I had there had stunning tail colours and your right to wait for right one as the tail looks impressive as tehy grow

Try earthworms on the problem ray Dave, it may get her through the short term and you can get them easy enough. I found mine would not pounce on prawn or lancefish but it couldn;t resist a wriggly chopped worm, and if not the other would eat it

In relation to the eels it was few years back but the fire eel was about 16 inch and the tyre tracj about 12 inch when I had the aggression from the fire eel, they;d been together about 12 months when all of a sudden the fire eel turned on the tyre track

The tank looks ace it'll be interesting to see how the fish all grow and gradually fill the tank cos at the min there all babies

Well done mate
