7 Foot, 1074 Litres, 284 Gallons.

well i wouldn't say they struggle, they keep it at a steady 27.5 celsius, when i do water changes and the temp goes down a degree or 2 then it takes all day to warm back up again, to be honest id say no, they aint sufficient.
im hoping to get one of them eheim thermo filters with built in 500 watt heater, and 2 external 300 watt heaters so thats 1100 watts and will do nicely.
3 300 watts would definitely not be sufficient for your tank.
thats the only bad thing about big tanks, you can get low energy lights, low energy filters but heaters sup the life out of your power station lol

yeah i was just thinking about the ambiant temperature of the tank thats all gotta get some more then i guess

going to pick up a tiger fish from my lfs on saturday datnioides microlepis, went to see it before and its stunning, getting it cheap at £30 and its about 5-6". stunning a tell ya!
then the rays coming very soon, im getting all excited and its not even christmas yet!
need to get rid of a few of my fish very soon though!
the smallest fish are the leaqf fish but hopefully they are sold now, love the little guys but you gotta make sacrifices when you move straight from a 4 foot 240 litre to a 7 foot 1072 litre! one of my best fish, my leopard bush fish is going too! i'll miss that guy for sure!
anyway, will take a few pics on saturday after i pick up the tiger fish! cant wait!

Dave

wills, believe me, i cant wait either!!
yeah, don't get me wrong, bar someone with millions, £2500 is a lot of money to anyone, whether you have it in your back pocket or not! when i eventually do get the cash to be able to spend on the fish i will, also after i feel confident i have enough experience. still though i will get the reticualted rays first, if and when they breed i will be confident my tank is right for them! the girlfriend is buying me the pair of rays now as my christmas present lol so may appear before christmas rather than after new year!
i do want the p14 rays eventually but i think i will buy one female first let it settle and grow a bit then introduce a male. it will all happen in good time!
i don't want to sound disappointing but yeah, the rays might appear soon and i will definitely keep this updated with pictures, but then nothing much exciting will happen for a while!
might pick up a hypostomus luteus from pier aquatics, and still waiting for the right tiger fish to turn up!

cheers!

Dave

And my girlfriend would'nt buy me a pair of ray's NOR a fish tank since i always go on about fish to her it annoys her

any ideas on how to change her mind :p?

just trade her in for a new one!!!

when you collecting the dat then dave ???

when you do we need pics lol

thanks minx, it will get there one day!

bae, i was meant to collect it today but got called into work this morning, after a heavy night, wasn't best pleased lol,
will go see it tomorow, it has a mark on its side from a cichlid or something at the wholesalers, i aint going to pay for it until it heals, as i said i will go see tomorrow, if it has improved i will take it, if i get it i will take some pictures, he said its a datnioides quadrifasciatus but i don't think it is, i think its microlepis but once i get it home i will take pics and compare, either way its over 5" and i can get it cheap so im happy!, im going to try and get to pier tomorrow aswel as they have in some datnioides undecimradiatus in for not bad price, will see if someone will take me lol!

Dave

went to collect the tigerfish today but the mark on its side still hasn't healed properly so i left it, he is keeping it for me so although im getting impatient there is no point in me bringing it home when it can stay where it is to recover 100%!
the rays are due to be delivered on thurseday so hopefully all goes well and i shall get lots of pictures!
trying to get to pier to get a tiger fish from there and maybe some other fish but lack of transport is working against me!!

Dave

oh i forgot to say i have got another filter, an fx5 like i wanted to run alongside the 2 eheim pro3 2080's i already have on the tank.
2 eheim pro3 2080's and 1 fluval fx5 must come close to the filtration power of a good sump!
theoretically i have enough filtration for a 3900 litre tank on a 1072 litre tank so if it doesn't keep it clean i shall retire from this hobby lol.
i sold a guy my snakeheads, all 4 assams and the platinum for £95 but he offered me his nearly new fx5 for them i said id pay £80 for it, so im getting the fx5 and £15 for the 5 snakeheads which i think is good! it is getting delivered on thurseday, same day as the stingrays! but im pretty sure im going to need new hose to fit up and over this tank as he had them cut for a 4 footer. i want to make a rigid pvc pipe for it though so the outlet of he fx5 is in the centre of the tank as the outputs for the eheims are at either end so this should give really good circulation. can't wait to really get the ball rolling on this!
whats everyones opinion on the filtration? more than enough? sufficient? just enough? or not enough?
cheers,
Dave

haha no channa, i like channa, you know that, but i dopn't know of any that would work in this tank with its stoc king and intended stocking.
i don't want another fire eel, mine is coming along nicely now, id love a nice peacock bass but i think i would have to start with a small one and let it grow!
picked up the tiger fish today and its about 5", looking nice! its definitely datnioides microlepis after the guy at the lfs being told it wasn't, i will get a picture when it settles in and you will see its quite obvious its a microlepis.
still waiting on my rays! if they don't come this week im going to get my money back, he offered it back to me last week but i said just hold onto it as i do want the rays. its from essex aquatics, anyone dealt with them before?
also still looking for a good deal on a nice arowana but haven't found the right deal yet lol.
