2ft Cube It’s All About The Motion Of The Ocean

Ok time for a quick update
The ro unit filter housing pod turned up yesterday morning so i started making RO and filling the tank its about ½ full now. :good:
But unfortanetly all is not well and the filling of the tank is at a stop  i have made a massive boob with the cabinet  if you look in the pics of the cabint, in the center of where the 2 doors are there is a piece of woodthat runs between them from top to bottom it is 20mm wide by 80mm deep, and thats all that is taking all the weight ofthe frount right corner of the tank -_- not good so i am now trying to work out a way of beefing this up { think the floor is going to have to come out of the cabinet

Oh gawd - good old 4 x 4 :good:

John is that you on UR asking about the mce pump. want me to measure the space in side my mce 600?

 hhah yep a good old 4x4 fence post would definitely be strong enough to hold the weight :D

Yes seffie
The guy said that the pump in the mce600 was not working and ASUMED it was just dried salt because it had been in the garage for 6 months and did not have the time to clean it and check it out again
Umm me on the other hand i always ASUME the worst and £85 for mce600 with a broken pump, he’s just not going to get that from me
So what i thought was, i have a deltec mc500 i wonder if the pump is just a striate swap for the one in the mce600.if it was i would have made him a more realistic offer bearing in mind that the pump was possibly broken in his mce600

Thank goodness you realised, otherwise you could have had a real disaster on your hands

Yep 50 gallons of salt water on the games room floor

Took the floor out of the cabinet yesterday and added a piece of 2x2 from top to bottom just behind the left hand side door :good: and a piece of 2x1 behind the right hand door. :good: So i how have 4inch wide in total and 2 inch deep, more than enough and the best bit you can’t see any of the changes from the outside of the cabinet.
The heater and the tunze 6055 are now in the tank and the salt has been mixing for a good few hours now, s.g 1.019 so just added some more red sea coral pro salt check again in a couple of hours and adjust accordingly more salt or more RO

Update time
I have a major problem  a very small leak in my weir box at the bottom that went un detected during wet testing
I how have the following problems...

1} the tank is half full with water the live rock is also in there with the corals and fish { i had to move them over into this tank because a guy was coming to buy the nano but he let me down

2} the weir fills up from the bottom through the leak so if there was ever a power cut the water in the weir would continue to flow down into the sump till the water in the main display dropped below the duso, about 15 gallons of extra water into the sump which it does not have the capacity to hold

This tank building game is really starting to do my head in now so much so i am almost ready to quit.. and sell the lot and go back to my nano

Ok quick question i am going to have to drain the tank down would the fish corals rock ect be ok in one of toughs water butts that you can get from garden centres they would only be in there for 24 – 48 hrs till the silicon dried

i had all my fish and corals in plastic toy boxes and gorila tubs for over a week and they were fine. I stored my water in a dustbin too.

Good idea ben
i was just looking at some toy boxes the other day at dun elm ,i could get a box from there with a lid for about a £10 only worry i have is the heater melting the dam thing with the luck i am having at the moment
Do you think one of these will be ok? food safe and all that?

O and how long do you think i should leave the silicon to dry for before putting the water back in the tank

Gold Label Underwater Pond & Aquarium Sealer :band: :hooray: :yahoo:

Unique underwater "silicone" sealer. This sealer looks like silicone sealer but it sticks and sets underwater with in 24hrs. It is non-toxic and solvent free and can be used safely with fish actually in the tank / pond, fresh or saltwater. Sticks: - Butyl, rubber, PVC, wood, glass, rock, ceramics, concrete, vinyl, wood........ The answer to my night mare just ordered some from flebay its available in black and clear, at £16.90 for a 290 ml tube it’s a little on the expensive side but it’s got to be better than having barrels all over the place holding fish corals and rock
