2ft Cube It’s All About The Motion Of The Ocean

Think a lot on Ur,lol..me too, one of several reef forums I belong to, but this seems by far the most friendly so far
Most of the tanks on here are still young and gives us all the chance to pick up tips from each other...
Lovely tank..you thinking of adding sps soon with the halide???

I use UR just for the classified - bumped my posts up to 50 so I could sell if needed :good: but this forum (or should I say the people on this forum) is my home and where my heart lays :good:

hi buddy boy
Here is a list of what i am hoping to keep in this tank. Under the new 150 m/h
a mix of bright coloured zoa,s /shrooms / ricordea /
gsp
my yellow leather
mix of gorgonians {possible not decided yet}
i want a nice red and white Trachy
green/pink hammer frog spawn
hystrix
Cataphyllia Jardinei - blue Tips

And that’s about all i can think of for now {or should i say can afford £££ } because there’s is one thing i do know, and that is that the tachy and Cataphyllia are going to make a nice big dent in my wallet

That sure is a nice list................. would love all of them. Didn't realise you had a yellow fiji leather, how has it been?

had that for just over a year now seffie, it has more than doubled in size it’s about 9 inch across now and starting to split its a really nice looking leather IMO :good: .
it deflates when the lights go out and puffs back up during day light, it also changes colour from a peach colour to a butter colour and when its deflated its purple which is strange  but nice to look at.i will see if i can get some pics up in a minute or two
thanks john,o

I hope you like it as much as i do thanks for looking, john,o

Urm don’t know, I am not sure how long it will take to separate? or do i just take a scalpel to it and slice it off?

yep, you can do that - are you brave enough  not sure I am, although after sawing off a piece of my hammer for Trod I might give it a try now

Oooooo i don’t know i will see if i can get the courage up to do it tomorrow when there’s no one in.
it’s not so much the frag i am bothered about but killing the main leather OMG that would be absolute night mare this thing took a long time to acclimatise as well about 2 or 3 weeks if i recall correctly so i guess it’s not going to be ease.
Has anybody got any advice for me please before i go kill this thing?

It'll be fine John. Just make a nice clean cut with a very sharp knife/scalpel. I've seen people chop up leathers like pizza and all the frags survive. Be prepared when cutting, they're pretty dense organisms so it might require some force to make the cut. More like cutting steak than a knife through hot butter if you know what I mean.

One precaution to use would be to run fresh carbon just in case :)

In general, yes ..slice a leather to bits..
However I have read on another forum that these yellows dont take too kindly to this treatment..will not quote as "gospel" , never trying myself..
With my common leather I have attacked it regularly , scalpel in hand..and as Ski has said, the frags took quickly and the parent healed in a few days..now got 11 heads from one parent in about 4 months..Carbon is a must if trying this as these guys release some pretty strong chemicals when cut!!!!

John, why not just leave it to naturally come off - no stress to the leather then :good:

Thanks for the advice guys. But like seffie has suggested i think i will leave this one to separate naturally.
This coral was a royal PITA when i first got it, it must of taken between 2 and 3 weeks for it to first open up and when i transferred it over from the nano it remained closed for a good while as well . so i think it best to leave it alone and let it do its thing. I will have to practice my fraging skills on some think else before i tackle this one
Thanks again every one for your advice
Not so brave john,o  l
