2ft Cube It’s All About The Motion Of The Ocean

Really nice build, but a word of caution - no bl**dy flowers or handbag or dinner out will win us around, you are just telling us 'honey, I have spent loads of money or done something I shouldn't have' so we can then go off and find out what it is, then hit you squarely between the eyes
:lol: :lol: :lol: :rofl: :rofl:

NO only joking around. the wedding is already booked only 9 weeks away. Just have a few small thing to pay for {photos and cars} and that’s it sit back wait and enjoy the day
Ok back on subject things to do today......
Add a small trim around cabinet top then stain cabinet
Paint the back and left hand side of the tank.

that looks a quality cabinet build. Id soon have that rammed full of cables, tubes and equipment B-)

:lol: there my sons :nod: the tank is going to be in the games room {no noise durso drowning out the TV :sly: }

Thanks for the comments guys
Yer really pleased with the way the cabinet has turned out it’s just a 2x2 frame really which was built for me by a friend. Then I got the diy center to cut the tall side and the tank base + sump lid for me. The only real problem I had was that you cannot get the pine boards 27inch, s wide so the tall side and tank base are actually made of 2 pieces of wood side by side. {you won’t see the joint when the tank is in place} And as for the lower side I decided to use tough and groove and once the tank is in place {some time this week work permitting} I will have a small trim to put around the bottom of the tank and the pelmet to make. Any ways here is a pic of where I am up to as to date….

Very nice build John, I'm impressed with that cabinet its really looking good.
Have you thought about your lighting yet, what's your plans. Are you going to have a deeper canopy (to match the cabinet) to incorporate MH's, ventilation grilles and fan units.

Thanks for the comments bigC
Yep I am going to be going with a 8 inch deep pelmet around the top of the tank to match the cabinet .as for the lights I am going to be running on a arcadia 4 x 24w luminaries for now :crazy: I know it’s not ideal for the depth of the tank but my main target a the minute is to get the tank up and running as a basic system so It can start to mature. I was not even going to be starting this build for another 9 or 10 weeks till after my wedding but I got carried away with all the new tank builds that are going on :good: :hyper: :drool: :lol: once the wedding is out the way I am thinking of going for aquarys 3x marine white a 2x blues I quite like the shimmering effect these light make and I also like the idea of low heat exchange and the running costs no bulbs to change every 6 months ect :hey:

Added a decretive trim around the top of the cabinet and got the tank into place today with some help from my son going to put trim around bottom of tank tomorrow then stain and varnish more pics to come after the week end :good:

Ok what do you think? Is the trim to tall? I am going to need a 1 &1/2 ----2 inch deep sand bed if it is going to be higher than the trim. Is that too deep?
