    Addition Suitable With C.sajica

I agree. Rainbows would be about the best tank mates. Glad you have finally got around to looking after your fish. If you dont have the time then please move them on. I cant stand animal cruelty.

New Kids, Severum Rotkeil And Cupid Cichlids

Congrats on the new fish. The only problem I see is that the tank is too small for Cupids. Unless you have a genuine pair and the rest are sub dominant they will kill each other. You could end up with one Cupid. They are really aggressive towards each other.

    Discus Compatibility

This is not a big drop as 27c is tolerable for Discus. I kept mine at a constant 28C. I would not use cold water with Discus. If you drop it down below 26C they will start to stress although temporarily dropping the temp can induce spawning. I would also bin the Bloodworm. They are a useless...

    The Syndodontis Themed Tank!

I have found Eupterous to be one of the most active species of Synodontis. One of my favourite species ( I could not think of the name the other night ) is Pardalis. Absolutely stunning but very very shy. Leopardis would be a more active species along with Multipuncatus but the Multis are best...

    Discus Compatibility

Bristle nose cats, Corydoras and most L numbers are fine with Discus. A healthy Discus wont let a Pleco suck the slime from its body. I would stay clear from the Loaches though. I tried to keep Pakistani Loaches with my Discus and they would not leave them alone. They just kept attacking them.

Second Epidemic Wiping Out All Danios

Are you buying your Danios from the same supplier ? If so it might be best to avoid this shop in future. Your other fish could also be carries of the disease and not be effected by it. They could be infecting the new fish when they are added.

    Cichlid Twirling......deaths Over Months :(

I think it was Bloat too. The Ammonia in your water is always going to cause you a problem. What I would do is set up a water butt or another tank just for water changes. You will need to have a filter and heater running in it 27/7 but now fish. Seed the filter from your tank. The Ammonia in...

    Ca Cichlid Tank.

The plan is to turn the tank into a Topajo redhead tank. I was let down with my fish this week as the supplier gave the Topajos to a shop in Cork because he thought I was not ready for them and the shop had very little fish. I am finding it hard to move the fish. Got a bit attached to the little...

    Refugium & Protein Skimmer?

One thing I would do is buy a different skimmer. If it is the Red Sea one they are pure s**t.

    Plants With African Cichlids

I have Anubias in my CA and SA Cichlid tank and the Cichlids dont bother with them. Mircrostornum and Onion plants should be fine too.

    Hi Everyone

Hi all. Just found the forum and I have to say its a great site. I have been keeping Marine fish and reefs for the last four years but after stripping down my old system for a new tank I decided it was too expensive to start up again plus I wanted a new venture. Cichlids and Catfish are my real...

    Ca Cichlid Tank.

This is the last of my CA Tank before I change it over to Geophagus Topajos. The JD and Ellioti will be rehomed tomorrow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5z7yfk10eU

    Geophagus Dicrozoster

Thanks guys. I want to keep the Cola look. The fish are naturally black water species in the wild. The blue background is annoying me a bit and I cant wait for it to become covered in Algae. The tank is 6x2x2 with a 4`sump. I was a reef tank but I broke it down because it was costing too much to...

    Geophagus Dicrozoster

Here is a video of my new Geophagus dicrozoster tank. They fish are only just over 2" now and the decor is not ever half done but you will get an idea of what I am trying to achieve. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9mUeEcvIAQ

    Somthing For The Bottom?

The fish looked like he was struggling to breed. It could have been from pH shock. Did you take your time to acclimatise them.

    Sick Fish Need Diagnosis

First of all I would never feed Bloodworm or Tubefex to fish for the following reasons. 1 Both can and do carry parasites. Tubefex in particular in the wild grows in stagnant filthy mud pools. I dont know how the grow it commercially but I would stay well clear. Bloodworm has very little...

    Sick Fish Need Diagnosis

Are there any worms sticking out the hole ( don`t mean to be rude ) If so it could be Calamanus worms. It could also be Bloat. What species of fish are sick and what frozen and live foods are you feeding them.

    The Syndodontis Themed Tank!

When you say Featherfins do you mean Eupterous. If so I found them to be less aggressive than some other species like Angelicus and Nigromaculatus. I would chance a Shoutedeni and some Flavitaenatus ( spelling ) Shoutedine keep to themselves but can handle themselves when needed. The Flavi will...

    Can Anyone Identify These?

I think the second one could be a Greshaki Zebra cross.

    Somthing For The Bottom?

Depending on the size of the Tetras I would not put Pictus cats in the tank as they are predatious. Why were the Jurapari struggling ? Were they being bullied by the GT. It might be best to remove the GT and try them again. They are stunning fish. How many had you got anyway? They dont do well...

    Somthing For The Bottom?

The GT is going to limit you a bit as they are very aggressive and anything that is added must be able to stand up to the fish or be fast enough to stay clear. Salvinis. Nicaragua Cichlids. Jack Dempseys. Ellioti. Blue Acaras. These should all be fine in your set up or you could get rid of the...
