You sure there is no small print that it applies to the next size up top fin filter. My top fin 60 has a nob at the top that can increase flowrate but my top fin 10 does not have that option. after going through my manual, it looks like topfin just use one manual for all there filters...

Well a very tempting offer opened up for a 135 gallon complete setup ( decor, pumps, filters, heaters etc.) and it includes a very healthy fahaka puffer. From the video of the actual tank and puffer, it looks like a perfect setup. Anybody with any tips before I make the jump on a fahaka...

I'm currently using pretty close to 100 percent RO water. With 50 percent water change on a 90 gallon tank I add about 2 tblspoon of Seachem equilibrium and 4 teaspoon seachem alkaline buffer per water change. Usually brings up my GH/KH close to 4-5 DKH.

Hmmmmm 0 nitrates?! Unless it's a Really heavily planted tank , something isn't right with that reading!

How long has this tank been setup? From your description it almost sounds like either ammonia burn or a ick Outbreak. How often are the flashing occurring?

Is it just the eyes that only go black ? Usually blue rams looses his color or darken up when they are stressed. Definitely check your water conditions and they are territorial so they will bully and fight each other if you don't have a big enough tank with borders established.

Give it a few weeks... As long as you see improvement then you are on the right track!

Try to stay away from cleaning the filter on a newly setup tank.....you need time for the beneficial bacteria to establish in there. Looks like you used fish to cycle the tank, and with no water change and only meds you are going to get a few casualties.

Looks like he just rubbed against something.... Nothing to really worry about unless it gets worse. If you don't have any plants, Cory,( fish that can't take any salt treatment). You could add some aquarium salt to help him heal quicker.

I've seen it go for green and black stuff. What I like about them best at the moment is they go after fish poop and actually breaks it up, giving me a easier time when I do my gravel vac. For some reason, my gravel vac has a hard time picking up the real big poops from my discus.

Yeah I have to agree with Kevin on this one as well. Sure the discus at the lfs might have survived alot ( bad water conditions, cheap food, etc.). But would you want a expensive fish that just went through all that or would you want a fish that was brought up properly with lots of care and...

I think discus shouldn't be classified like any regular chiclids just for the plain fact that they are the hardest to keep, and do require specific water conditions. A juvi discus no matter where you get them from require lots of water changes, just because you get this juvi from a lfs...

You can try prazipro if you are definitely coming to a conclusion that they have parasites.

I honestly don't know... the problem with using full out meds for parasite is that it might do more harm then good for a questionable fish! That's why I can't recommend using full out Medication for your situation. If you can find a comparable parasite guard in your market then I guess that...

I have Cory agasizi's in mine! They seem to be pretty happy with the warm water.

Get the fluval E300 and you should have the best option for a in tank heater. Also pick up a inline filter heater as a backup. But everything looks good from the picture! :)

That's the same way I do it too... I like increasing in pairs too! I have my sights on getting a pair of Heckels but it won't happen till I setup a new wild tank. I'm running out of room!!! :)

No problem.... I go through about 120 gallons of water a week in water changes for my discus tank ( I blame it on the home made beef heart mix that messes up the water) but thanks to your advice you gave me last year I have the confidence to do massive water changes without worry! :)

A new product from seachem is out that is even more concentrated then Prime but in powder form.... It's called seachem SAFE and for example 1/8 tsp treats 25 gallons of water. I'm currently using it and Its saving me some good money compared to prime!

Usually it's safe to use the 1 adult discus to 10 gallon rule. So I would say 9 or 10. But with an increase on fish load, you might need to up the quantity of water changes depending on waste. With discus, the more you have the better! Since it helps with aggression and shyness issues. But...

Yup... April gets them from the source(Forrest). Quarantine should always be performed, I'm in no way advocating that quarantine should be skipped, just that on my case I know the source and my lfs did perform the quarantine for me.
