White Ring On Gourami

Hello,
My dwarf gourami has developed a small white ring on his side. It's about 1mm in diameter with no redness. The center is just his normal orange color. The ring is right near a patch of missing scales that he's had since I got him. Is this disease or maybe a sign that his scales are growing back?

Also, I'm not 100% sure that the area is "missing scales". It's a white patch of skin about .5cm wide. There is no cottony growth and it really does look like he maybe got attacked and lost some scales.

I would appreciate any opinions/advice!

Normaly new scles grow back white and will eventually get their colour back.
keep an eye on him and just watch for non growth of scales or not too much change

Thanks for the quick reply! But any thoughts on the small white ring? Could it be anything disease related?

Looks like he just rubbed against something.... Nothing to really worry about unless it gets worse. If you don't have any plants, Cory,( fish that can't take any salt treatment).
You could add some aquarium salt to help him heal quicker.

Thanks! I do have plants, so I've been using melafix for wound treatment. About how long do you think it will take before I see any scale regrowth? Or after how long should I be worried if there's no change?

Give it a few weeks... As long as you see improvement then you are on the right track!

The ring disappeared, it looked like his scales were growing back. He ate well and was very active and happy for about a week and a half. One day he stopped eating. Now he has dropsy. I've read that it's nearly impossible to cure. He's in a quarantine tank now. I've added pimafix and kanamycin. He seems to have bloated even more. I feel so bad for him.... but I don't think I have the heart to euthanize....

Thoughts?
