Cycling is for your filter, leave the filter in your other tank for like a week and a half. Take it out and put it in the other tank. If you are getting rid of the smaller tank then you can put both filters in the other.

I got some pool filter sand when i did mine and it wasnt cloudy a bit. How are you planning on doing the inside? I decided to experiment with some dead coral, big conch shells, and large barnacles and i love the way it looks :)

I would just leave it in your other tank for awhile. Im not completely sure but when i set up my new tank i did it all in three days. If you are planning on not using your 10 i would just jump both filters over to the other tank and you would be good. Or at least in my experience :)

Can you set both filters up in the 10? Thats what i would do and just let it run for awhile.

I seem to have wonderful luck with gouramis, and they are never aggressive. I would suggest maybe looking at honey gouramis as they aremy favorite :good:

Yes, but what filters are you using? The filter should at least be one cartridge size up from the 10 if its in a 36.

I dont know where you could get one, but a temporary solution is plastic wrap. When my tank lid broke on my hex tank, iused that for about 2 weeks before getting a custom cut glass top.

i say leave them, those little snails do you more good then harm.

If you do switch, i would let the sand settle for a day or two. I used pool filter sand in my tank and its larger, and round so it wont destroy your filter if it happens to get into it. Because its larger it doesnt kick up either :)

Lol, my dad through some in his tank, and he a similar assortment of fish, just some jewels, texas cichlids, and convicts and they were fine so i may try my luck with them. At least i will know that if they do die they wont be put to waste ;)

Fanning is done when their are eggs already there, so just keep a lookout for the fry in the next few days.

One they are small and they have been together for quite a long time. Two they do not fight at all, they all eat, they all have places to hide, and only the dempsey has been nipped in the fins. Three i have another tank to put them in later. Does anyone have any PERSONAL experience with these...

Havent been on in awhile quite the busy life recently, but i just set up my new 55gallon the other day, and everything is running great so far. It has the following: Clown pleco, featherfin catfish, an african cichlid, jack dempsey(small), yellow lab, venustus, 3 gouramis, 2 hybrid blood...

The best way to go is add the old media to the new tank or put the new filter into your old tank. I personally would just put some old media in for time sake.

The one inch per gallon is flexible, once your aquarium gets going you could even go to 1.5 inch per gallon. If you are scared/unsure stick with the lower one :good:

You can get some top level fish that move a lot like zebra danios etc, or you could go floating plants.As for decor, thats up to you because we are not going to be the ones looking at it everyday.

Do you have a dresser you can put it on? I would take option 2 though. You never know about dealing with people you dont know. Make sure to soak everything in a bleach solution and then let it air out for like a week. I would also get the long one, a tall one limits what you can get, i hate it >:/

Yeah the ob is gorgeous, he has nice colors and the brightest tint out of the other 20 fish that were there :)

The lionfish is not with these guys its in a different tank. My cichlid tank is : yellow lab, ob peacock, 2 parrots(hybrid), venustus, Butterfly and a featherfin catfish. There is nothing that can fit inside his lizard like mouth :) All of these guys have been together in the same tank at the...

I have a 6 inch one and he is very unaggressive. He just kinda messes up anyone that has the guts to mess with him, mine loves the shrimp you get in the container at stores cant remember the name of it :/

I found my first lfs where i live! We went all out and bought a freshwater lionfish, ob peacock cichlid(hybrid i believe), a venustus cichlid, and a butteryfly fish! Anyone have any experience with any of these? :hey:

My gouramis are quite peaceful. Yours might be sick because fish seem to be nastier to sick fish. Males have pointed fins while females have rounder ones. Males also have more color and spots.

Not really sure on the smaller one sorry :(

I just use some top fin tropical flakes with some blood worms every once and awhile. If you want a really high quality you could make your own :)

Have you recently added any new fish or changed your tank drastically?
