Hello

Just joined. I've had tropical fish for quite a few years but not sure what to do with this guy?
I've mostly had a load of different community fish in the past but now I just have this fish and a catfish. It's looking a bit bear so I went to the shop to get some new fish but was advised I'd struggle to introduce anything as they didnt have anything big enough for my ph level.

I don't treat the water at the moment so I assume the ph is around 8.

What is this fish?

Its a Labidochromis Caeruleus also known as electric yellow lab
Suitable tankmates will really only consist of other mbuna cichlids and smaller plecs or Syndontis Catfish

You could only really house other Malawi Cichlids with your fish and you wouldn't have room for many as a 4ft+ is recommended for this type of set up.
It might be worth adding another 3-4 Yellow Labs but you couldn't add much else.

I love my electric yellow <3 He gets along with all of his other cichlid "buddies" like my dempsey, venustus, and parrots. But hey thats just my experience:)

I think you can keep a group of yellow labs in a 30 gallon? I read about it somewhere. But of course that's just about it. Only the labs.

And TBH, based on my experience of them, I think it would be possible.

PS: Yours looks great! Good color!:)

I have used them as dithers with my larger new worlds but I would like to eventually set up a really good african set up sometime but I got so many other projects going right now that I can't
