Hey guys!

I've been a member in the betta section on this forum for a while now, but I've started to branch out. I still keep and breed my bettas, but I'm looking for a change.

I'm currently interested in Killifish and Cichlids, Red Jewels to be exact.

I wanted to ask a few questions though...

I have a 3ft tank that is 35 inches long and 18 inches high, but I've read in their profile that minimum should be 40 inches. Would I still be able to keep them in there?

Also, would I be able to have any tankmates with them? My understanding is that they are very aggressive and territorial, so I guess I just answered my own question right?

TIA!!!

Jewel's are pretty fish, and easy to breed. How many gallons is your tank? Or litres? I kept and bred mine ina 20 gallon. The fish were good sized

I don't know how many litres or gallons it is.

I wanted to get some Demasoni aswell. How well would they go together (if at all)?

My experience with jewels is they tend to just be highly aggressive if other fish enter their "territory". All of mine also liked to horde food at the bottom of the tank and eat so much it was just coming out of his gills, but not let a single fish touch it except our huge pleco because quite frankly he didnt give a damn :)

demasoni can be kept in a 3ft tank, although that's not the best size for them.

get some measurements and let us know the dimensions and gallons/liters :good:

i have 10 red jewels in a tank of 40 odd and they all get along nicely. although theyr probably bout 10 months to a year old theyve never been a problem although i know for sure ive got pairs and males and females no breeding yet. its curious.
