I had a trio of SAP's in a very busy tank but found them a bit disappointing compared to dwarfs, also they need their teeth trimming every 6 months or so and I never fancied doing that.

I have a 300w xt heater, I cant see why you would have to run it along side an internal heater, its not like it needs to mature. I wouldnt take the old one out till its been running for a couple of hours but thats only in case of leaks. Lets face it if your internal broke what would you do?

I have that exact combo, they work great but on a big tank it can be a pain to prime the 2217 as the pipework is so far away :rolleyes:

I was looking at one of these myself, could I get a couple of pouches of purigen and some filter floss in one, I was also thinking of feeding my co2 airline into it to help distribute the co2 in the tank. what do you think?

Its my LFS, they can be a bit pricey on stuff but the fish stock is always top class albeit a bit limited. Sometimes it can be hard to get served as their staffing can be a bit thin on the ground, but if you can visit during the week this shouldn't be a problem.

I have to agree that the MA Peterborough is the best one for miles around, I nearly always go there for plants and its the only place I would get rainbows from as the stock is always fresh, they do ask a few questions about your tank which is always an encouraging sign. Another vote from me...

Its not as bad as you would think, If you go to your LFS they will most likely be able to hire you some 25l water carriers and give you some bags they may even sell you a polly box. Firstly you should drain 50% of the water into the barrels then net and bag the fish placing them into the polly...

I have a 2217 classic and 2236 ecco in two different tanks, both have been reliable, I find the ecco easier to use and clean but the 2217 holds loads more media relative to its size. The early eccos had problems with the durability of the priming handle I dont think the newer ones have this problem.

Water weighs a Kilo per Litre, Plus the tank stand Ect, Would you worry about having a couple of fat blokes standing upstairs if not then you should be OK as the tank will weigh about the same as them.

For next time Argos have these they are really easy to programme and can help save money by making sure the lights arnt on for too long.
