it isn't hard to remove.... you just skim it off the top. I don't think it is any worse than riccia, and lots of us have that in our tank. just skim the duck weed off and toss it. sure getting it ALL is nearly impossible, but skim it off once a week and you will be fine.

I posted this in the riccia thread, but no one said anything so I figured i would make it its own thread. soo I was setting up a riccia bed in my tank a couple weeks back, and I didn't have enough riccia to cover the 2 rocks I had.... so I covered one with the riccia and one with ivy duckweed...

here is an update on my lemna carpet. I think it looks kinda messy... especially beside the riccia carpet, but it is kinda interesting, and it worked great. It needs a trim, so maybe after that it will fill in more. I duno. I would have to say it was a successfull experiment.

wait.... your room with the tank is light all day from the window, then you turn the lights in the aquarium on when it gets dark, and they stay on all night? so you have light like 24hours a day? that is WAY too much light. you shouldn't have your lights on at night at all. only for like 6...

giant vallis might be nice... it can easily make it to 70cm. tiger lotus might be good too. as for the egeria.... just cut the top off and plant it beside the other one, and both will grow. or you can pull the plant out, cut off the bottum half and replant it. they should just grow like crazy...

Thanks. I was thinking about pearl gouramis.... then I was thinking about rainbow fish.... I think both would be fine... I am still thinking about it. I guess I am in no real rush to get more fish in there.... the white clouds are interesting enough for now. I definitely will add something...

I have hornwort growing in my pond, and some elodia. I also have water lettuce floating on top. Valis also do well in cold water, and I have had swords too, but they don't grow much, so I wouldn't say that is doing well. I think there are a lot of plants that will do well in cold water.

Alright, so It's been just over 3 weeks, and I am starting to have some problems. I am getting black hair algae. IT is growing all over my Java Ferns and on my Amazon Swords. when I got the ferns, they were not in very good shape with a lot of holes in them. those leaves seem to have not...

my PH is 7.5 and my KH is 10 My GH is 17 so my water is hard.

there is a yellow mutation of it that is more white.... but it is kinda yellow white.

harlequin raspboras are a maybe.... I duno if they will like my water either though. same for the rummy nose.... hmm.
