Ok so I have a 65 Gallon Aquarium. It is fully planted. the water is a little on the hard side, but with peat filtration, I have it down to an acceptable level. the tank is fully cycled, and has been set up for about a month. Right now I have 2 BN Plecs, 5 bandit cory cats, 3 ottos, and 25 white cloud minnows. I really like pearl gouramis, and from what I have read, they do pretty well with a large variety of water conditions. now my question is this.... I want to add a small tall bodied schooling fish in there. maybe 8 or 9 of them. I want it to get along with the others, and kind of contrast them a bit to add some variety. any suggestions would be great. I was thinking Lemon Tetras, but I havn't seen many around.....

I've got a school of 10 cardinal tetras in with my M/F/F trio of pearls. LOVE my pearls, highly recommend them. It's fun to watch them interact. Cardinals are not exactly tall bodied, but their colours look brilliant, and they contrast well. They don't bother anybody in the tank either. You gotta be careful with some tetras in case they're nippy - gouramis have their long feelers and the males especially can have longer frillier fins that you don't want getting nipped.

Maybe Dwarf Blue Rainbows (M. praecox)? They school slightly, have bright colors, and grow rather deep when older.

Thanks guys, I checked out the dwarf blue rainbows, and they are beautiful. but... I think my water is too hard for them. it is like 10 KH, and the PH is around 7.5 so unfortionately I don't think the dwarf blue rainbows will work. man those are nice looking fish though. Let me know if they will be ok with that though... and i'll be all over them. Any other suggestions?

You could always go for honey gourami? Just a thought. Doesn't quite suit your criteria but....
Its an idea.
Black widow tetras?

If you want tall bodied fish, go for buenos aires tetra. They don;t get huge, but get large as far as tetra go and have a very high body.

I was thinking of those... or maybe black phantoms.... but I was hopeing for something more colourfull. hmm. I showed a picture of those to my mother when she was over the other day, and she thougth they were the same fish as my bandit corys. ha ha. as crazy as it was, she did have a point. ha ha.

harlequin raspboras are a maybe.... I duno if they will like my water either though. same for the rummy nose.... hmm.
