Because LR is super expensive, what do i need to run a fish only tank?/

Im starting up a 55 gallon Bowfront FOWLR. Filled it with fresh water, dechlorinated it, and added the crushed coral gravel. I also added some plastic plants. Because we live out in the country, we have a reverse osmosis water system in our garage. So, all of our water is reverse osmosis...

You could get away with 6-8 in a 10 gallon, but you couldnt do a sorority in a 5.

I would like to get into Killi's and just have a few questions What Size Tank for 1 killi? 2 killis? 3 Killis? Do they need a heater? Planted(live/plastic) or bare tanks? Also, do they need a filter? How long does it takes eggs to hatch? at what age are they fully grown? Whatsize breeding...

Yep! Welcome! As others said, a 5 gallon is perfect, but id remove those tetras, they cxan be a bit nipping. But dont forget, you dont HAVE to have a 5 gallon, the absolute minimum for a betta is 1 gallon.

I use craft mesh, measure the tank, cut it to size and slide it in...plus i use gravel to hold it in place, but ill be stopping thata t the next water change. Also..yes keep the water level a little low...also, if its gona be permadent, use aquarium silicone to keep it in.,

Theirs about 30-40 fry. I figured shed be too young as well, but when the girls started to get really eggy i figured id give it a shot!

Alright, they are all free swimming, well most are...i have removed pyro. They arnt ready for their first feeding yet, ill probably feed them tomorow.

Yep! The female got out un nipped, it was a very gentle breeding. Can't wait until they are free swimming, i can tell pyro is getting annoyed with all the falling babies.

Oh and dont forget tetracycline, which treats gram-positive and gram-negataive.

I bred Pyro and Adiva...and they spawned on saturday! The babies hatched last night(13th) and they are soooo cute! Lol, ok i guess this is my spawn log, lol. Spawning pics Eggs in nest: I dont have any baby pics because my friend has the 18-55mm lens for my camera. Zafirah

I got 4 fish from this spawn and i have got to say tey are the prettiest fish i have ever seen Here are the two males: And the two girls are just as nice.

I personally wouldnt use melafix, because its not a true med, its just stuff from a tea tree(i believe). Plus, its been proven has not very good for air breathing fish. Id go with tetracyline, which treats both gram negative and gram positive infections...but if you can find something else( cant...
