Beat me to it!! :-) Reading this should help you out a bit!, basically the tropical fish need "good bacteria" in the water to survive, without this they will more often than not drop dead within a very short space of time!

Did you cycle the tank before adding the fish?

It shouldnt be too much to worry about, mine were the same when I first got them.... They sometimes just sit at the very top of the tank and dont move at all...!!!

I have just got one of these to keep my small tank ticking over till the upgrade... A great little filter, the water is crystal clear and the turnover of water is very impressive!... Altogether very happy.... Apart from losing one of my guppys on tuesday :-(

Ive been considering buying the Aqua One 980.... My only concern being do you think I would be able to run my external Eheim 2026 alongside the built in filter, the hood on the Aquaones look as though you cant mod them much?

The juwel tanks are great little systems... Ive had my Juwel 70 running for about 5 months now. It would however be difficult to add the extra lighting into the hoods without major reconstruction work.

For an extra £20 you could get a Eheim Pro II 2026.... I ordered mine couple of weeks back from www.zooplus.co.uk the water in my tank has never been clearer!!! :)

Ive been having a little look at the eheim pro 2 actually... Just wondered what peoples thoughts generally on external filters. I have previously been using internal filters & dont go too much on the performance of the Juwel internal filters... Plus that big black box takes up a hell of a lot...

I done what I usually do when introducing the fish, I float the bag in water for about 20mins to let the water temp acclimatise the fish, then add about a cup full of tank water into the bag, then let the fish swim out after about another 10mins... Then add a pinch of food... I done a 20%...

I bought 4 male guppys for my community tank on saturday... I came home from work today and found one lying dead at the bottom of the tank... :( The fins and tail section were missing... Do you think he could have been attacked by the other guppys... Tank Stats are as follows Ammonia 0...

There has been quite a strange shift of power in the tank... The male now seems terrified of the female... She is swimming around like the queen & he is cowering in the plants!?!? Very Strange!....

Go careful if you are going M/F.... Ive had a few "territorial" issues with my two... The male constantly chasing the female all over the tank!!!...

Ive had exactly the same behaviour from my male Gourami, they are weird fish but quite funny & entertaining at times!!

Thanks Guys, I shall look into getting a better test kit, the one Im using at the moment from the LFS is pretty useless. I am doing a fishless cycle, its looking very good at the moment (bearing in mind im not 100% happy with my test kits though!!).... Almost ready for fish!!...

I have just bought a second hand juwel 60, (just starting out!, its my first tank!!)... It has had the Internal filter & heater taken out. Was just wondering what filter you guys think a newbie like myself should start with & also are the internal lights enough to heat the tank to the correct...
