Hi Concolor are nice and chunky i got mine from a LFS for about £3.50 each I also quite like green/orange lasers but these are harder to find and probably about £10 each

Hi i am thinking of getting a tetratec Ex1200 But it must fit within the Cabinet of my vision 180 as there is no space at the side. The measurements show it might just fit in the middle can anyone comfirm this? If so has anyone got a picture of one in situ. thanks for help. mick

nice work Andy i must say you guys seem very trusting of these drop checkers i'm not that convinced.

using ceramics the co2 doesn't stay a mist for very long at all, and i would say most just rises to the surface and escapes then there's the cleaning. I would love an inline but i would need a new filter too as they will not attach to fluvel hoses.

yep they do go inside the tank, so i guess they are pretty ugly. i have got a couple of ceramic diffusers but i am not much of a fan to be honest.

I got the type 1 from aquaessentials, dont be supprised if you dont get the ph reagent! i didn't. As for the different types i pressume it is just style.

hi i bought a boyu type one drop checker which came yesterday with a 4dkh water. set it up and sure enough it turn green. The problem is my co2 has been off all night, my tank water has risen by .5 ph as you would expect but the drop checker is still exactly the same shade of green! Whats going...

I find it odd how few people with compressed gas use a ph controller, so easy to use and stop probs like this. I just set may gas between 1-2 bubs a sec and let the controller do the rest!

I USUALLY NEED about 1 bubble/sec with pressurised, through a ceramic disk or ladder in a 180L.

could just go for the 'TROPICAL PLANT COLLECTION' for the size of your tank to start yourself off.

bicarbonare of soda. cant remeber ratio's though, i think i kept mixing 1/2 teaspoon in water then putting in tank until i got required ph/kh

i am with sam, i use coral sand for my shellies it gives me around a 8.2 ph from 7.0, i cant see it being easy to judge an amount to give you 7.0 if at all possible. soda would be easier.

Hi all i am using a nutrafin drop kh kit and am getting 5 drop in before it turns colour. I think this means i have 50 mg/l. Is this the same a ppm and would this then make a kh hardness of 2.8 deg. Is this abit low or have i mis-calculated somewhere?? thanks mick
