Yay! My fishie is coming! :kana: Thank you, Wuv!

My first betta took two days to settle in before he would eat anything. All my other pet store bettas took at least a day before they would eat. It's nothing to worry about. :)

All of my bettas are within seeing distance of one another. They've gotten used to one another enough that there is minimal flaring. Once in a while Saburo or Pooky gets hyper and flares at the other, but it doesn't last long and they go back to their lives after their little contest. :)

Jen24: I used to feed my bettas that brand. I fed them twice a day about four pieces each, and not more than five in one feeding. :)

Out of curiosity, where did you get your betta? Because if a petstore sells bettas I would think would sell betta food... :blink: I've never heard any of the other uk betta owners having a problem like that. :/

I don't feed my bettas bloodworms, but that sounds like a good meal for him. :D Are you feeding onlt bloodworms? Because too many too often can cause constipation i've heard. I feed my bettas pellets, about 4 twice a day, and a boiled cooled shelled pea once a week to avoid constipation. :)

Well, I have heard you can put them on heating pads, and in a larger container of water that holds a heater. But it depends on what kind of tanks and what material they are. I know that you can get little heaters for 2.5 gallons, ask bettaMomma, she'd know what brand. :nod: *edited because I...

Okie dokie, yolk, lettuce and ham I can do. Mom asked me what rotifers were and I was like :dunno: . And we are dirt poor at the moment, unable to even buy lightbulbs for my 2.5 gallon tanks, so we wouldn't be able to get special tadpole foods. The critters are still feeding off their yolk...

I have no clue as to species, the parents were long gone already. So... rotifers and daphnia, i'll look around.

So I went outside one morning and there were a bunch of evidence that frogs were having fun in my youngers sibling's kiddie pool the previous night. So my mother decided it would be a learning experience for the younger kids to hatch the frog eggs and watch the tadpoles grow. So a clump of eggs...

She said she's caught the algae eater sucking on the goldfish a couple times, and she only changed the water once a month, and it's uncycled.

I'll tell her that, and i'm going to google melanophore migration and print out some information for her. Hopefully she'll take my advice.

I thought a 10 gallon was too small. (It is a biiiiig fish.) The algae eater is about the same size aa the goldfish, and i'm not sure how often she changes the water, and I don't know if it's cycled, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure she doesn't change the water weekly, cause she puts something...

If this is in the wrong spot then tell me so I can apologize, I didn't see a place for goldfish. :*) What would cause a goldfish to develop black spots all over? I have a friend that has a goldfish(it's about 5-7 inches long, blind, and very old) in a 10 gallon filtered tank with an algae...

I just got a jar of Tetra Dried Baby Shrimp at the local WM. I assumed they'd be teeny tiny but they're big enough that i'm worried that my bettas will choke on them whole. So could I mash them into littler pieces and it would be fine? The package says fresh water shrimp not brine shrimp so I...

I totally agree! I don't overfeed my bettas, the snail was more because I think their cute than to clean up uneaten food.

Thanks for the replies! I should probably wait just to be sure, do some more research. If I get a super-pooper snail like some of you seem to have then i'd end up changing the tanks more often. If I get one then i'll probably start out with him/her in their own little bowl, and then depending on...

I've read the posts concerning the snails in betta tanks. Would I be able to put a snail in one of my betta 2.5 mini bows? I figured that if they don't get along together then I could put the snail in his own little bowl or something. Would that be ok? -_-

Wuvmybetta mailed me Aka, Pooky, and Saburo.(see siggy) They came through wonderfully. It depends on how they're packed too.

I had one flare at the container of fish food. And Aidan(rip) flared at the heater when he was fist put in the 5 gallon tank.

A couple days ago I was fishing a half eaten pea from between the rocks in Pooky's tank and he tried biting the end of my fingernail. :lol: Aka and Saburo don't mind me sticking my hands in the tank, and if I left it in there long enough they'd probably try biting, but Dacey runs for dear life.
