    Fish Photo Of The Month?

Most other sites have a photo of the month competition. I don't see the harm in this forum having one. I agree with the idea of some sort of 'proof' that you have took the photo and its your fish. Perhaps like in the 'ToTM' competition you should enter your photo along with another picture...

    Paratilapia Polleni

Thanks for comments everyone. I've been thinking about adding a school of congo tetra's to the tank, though I am hesitant after what happened to the tiger barbs. Though the congo's are quite abit bigger than the barbs were.

    Heater Guard, Necessary?

It depends on what sort of fish you keep. If you have fish that like to rest on things eg. plecs, leaf fish, loaches then it would probably be useful. The same goes for aggressive or powerful fish eg. large cichlids as these might break the heater. If you just keep guppies or danios, then...

    All Owners Of A 6X2X2

Sorry, I can't recall the name exactly (was around 7 years ago at least), but it was some tank building company based in Rotherham that may have ceased to trade now. A google search pulls up the name 'Fit Filtration' and their logo looks familiar, they say they offer delivery and installation...

    Need A Centerpiece

Too small for severum or uarus (50 gallon) in my opinion. Placidochromis phenochilus is a cichlid from Lake Malawi, so I would say need a dedicated tank and not suited to live with rams.

    All Owners Of A 6X2X2

As many people as possible really, not worth the risk if someone slips or grip goes. When I had a tank delivered, the courier had a special 'harness' with some type of suction cups which made lifting the tank really easy.

    Need A Centerpiece

Angels would probably be the commenest suggestion. What sort of danio's are they (to get an idea of size etc.) The rams mean nothing too boisterous, so if you're thinking cichlid then perhaps something like a sajica or cutteri could work. Perhaps more peaceful fish like keyholes would be...

    Messing With New Cam

Nice tank, great aquascaping, especially the black substrate and the creeping, greeny, mossy plant (I'm not plant expert as you may guess). I agree with hatchet fish, always liked them. Though I don't think your tank is big enough for discus unfortunately.

What To Do With 500Litres Of Space?

If the Red sev, tapajo's and firemouths are definitely in then stocking would have to be around them. I would suggest cichlid possibilites could include and are by no means limited to: Sajica Cutteri Festivums Honduran red point Rainbows Red Bay Snook (depending on tank dimensions) Thorichthys...

What To Do With 500Litres Of Space?

Best filter for larger tanks in my opinion are trickle filters. Much cheaper too. I'll probably get slated here, but whats the big deal with severums on this forum, sure they're nice fish, I had one once. But come on, theres a bunch of other fish out there!

    29 Gallon Cichlid Community

I wouldn't mix firemouths with the rams or keyholes, they tend to be too boisterous/aggressive. Depending on dimensions of the 29G you could have a pair of rams and keyholes.

    How Many Livebearers Ina 63L?

SAE = Siamese Algea Eater. Though the 'golden loach' you describe sounds more like a 'chinese algea eater', Gyrinocheilus aymonieri. These are often sold in LFS and are reputed to get aggressive with age. SAE = Siamese Algae Eater. Though the 'golden loach' you describe sounds more like the...

    Fresh Water Protein Skimmer

I've always thought protein skimmers were pretty much redundant on freshwater tanks. Could be wrong but I thought due to the chemistry of marine tanks it worked, but not in fresh.

    Hospital Tank

Agree with Tolak. The vast majority of 'good bacteria' is in the filter media. I keep surplus media in my trickle filter in case I need to instantly set up a tank. Providing that your main isn't a specialist set up then moving a fish between tanks isn't much of an issue. Try to keep...

    What Would You Do?

I don't have experience with cupids/krobia so can't speak from experience. In the 48"x24" tank I could see it working, I personally think a severum, nic and a group of smaller cichlids would be too much for the 48"x16" tank.

    What Would You Do?

What are the dimensions of the tank? I would be reluctant to add another 'feature' cichlid in a 65 gallon tank personally.

    Red Crabs

Agreed, best in a species tank, and I also think they are brackish. With regards to the 'african dwarf frog', these are more suitable. Make sure you get the dwarf kind and not the clawed kind though.

    Is This True?

What size tank is the oscar (just asking to see if tankmates would fit). Oscars aren't the most aggressive of fish so there are suitable tankmates out there. Oscars are never full :P. How often you should feed it depends on its size, a young oscar can be fed quite regularly, I fed mine twice...

    Needlenose Fish

Needlenose need a big tank, have you thought about other species that are similar, easy to care for? Halfbeaks may suit your tastes, theres a variety of them so I would make sure you correctly ID them as they have differing needs. Ctenolucius hujeta are also a 'gar' like fish, but probably need...

    Is This True?

I cannot definitively say that its true, but I'd agree with it. Theres a proven link between stress and a weakened immune system. For an example, and oscar in a completely bare tank would be bored, as would any animal. Just ask any oscar owner how interactive, inquisitive, curious and...

Changing My Tank Decor Any Ideas?

I wouldn't know as I don't know what type of rocks they are. Just to add when leaving them in water overnight (a week is much prefered) remember to test the water, don't just let the rock sit there and then automatically put in in your tank. I stand by my earlier assertion, if you're not 100%...

Changing My Tank Decor Any Ideas?

Quite a collection you have there. Caves can be created by strategic placement of decorations such as bogwood, or even I think slate caves (someone used to sell them on this forum, don't know if they still do) can look attractive. Plants can be easy depending on the species you get, for...
