Got a call this afternoon to say my new tank has been delivered at MA, we opted to collect it so will be picking it up tomorrow. I was all excited until I was told that the unipak limpopo black sand that was ordered hasn`t come in yet though

The chap I spoke to suggested using 'Senegal' instead as it`s quite a dark coloured sand, but after looking at an aquatics website Senegal looks to be quite orange and not as dark as the limpopo.

Can anyone please suggest another dark coloured sand that would be a close alternative to the unipak limpopo?

I know the sensible option is to wait until the sand comes in but that means having 2 big tanks sat in the living room and it`ll be complete torture for me knowing that I can`t set it all up

Get the tank started up (filter cycled and moving any fish if that was the plan for this tank) and then gently add the sand when it arrives ;)

Agreed, I'd just wait until the sand you want has arrived. If the waits not something ridiculus that is.

Have you thought about Tahitian Moon Sand, thats black but is very expensive in my opinion.

Thank you. Limpopo has been delayed apparently so opted for 'congo' instead as that looks quite dark, didn't think about adding the sand after to be honest because I have lots of planting to do......plus I'm just too darned impatient

I did think about the Tahitian moon sand but due to the cost hubby told me to think again!!

The Congo sand is a nice mix of colours, it's what is in my Rio240.

It will need plenty of rinsing though to get rid of dust! ;)
