Fresh Water Protein Skimmer

today i got nuts and fitted a internal protein skimmer in my fresh water tank.
it run on a air wood cube.( air stone!) with strong air pump.



would it work?

is it ok?

ps, it is a salt water ones..

not the one disigned for fresh water. ( which cost arm and a leg!)

I've always thought protein skimmers were pretty much redundant on freshwater tanks. Could be wrong but I thought due to the chemistry of marine tanks it worked, but not in fresh.
