    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

Thanks wilder that's really helpful. Keep my tank at 80.5, slightly on the warm side for most of my fish. But the sterbai like warmer temperatures so I compromise with 80.5! None of them will mind it being a bit cooler for a while though so I'll drop the temp :) I'll get some interpet anti...

Do you have an opinion on the myxazin?   No sign of improvement but not looking worse either!

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

Thanks again for the help guys. I watched them all closely last night and the double dose doesn't seem to have caused any distress.   This is a three day treatment but I'd obviously be happy to use whatever would do the job. I don't have any antibiotics at home and I don't know what to get!   I...

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

Thanks for your input DoubleDutch. I added the esha today but I'm feeling really nervous because I doubled the dose. It was in the instructions that for very ill fish and "faster initial results" it was safe. It also said that even when overdosed, esha is unlikely to become toxic so should be...

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

Fine sand, Unipac Limpopo. The substrate is very clean, there is never any poop or detritus visible - I think this is because it's over filtered and I don't have any hardscape to block flow.

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

One more question! I use Purigen filter media which I'll obviously need to remove while treating the tank. Will the media itself be ok to take out of the tank and put back in when treatment is over? I'm not sure if letting it dry out will harm the purigen at all. Feels like a silly question but...

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

They don't ship outside of Ireland, how weird is that? I'll use the esha and of course let you know how things go :)   Thanks for the help!

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

All other fish looking great, my angels are looking to spawn. It's just the cories that are a concern   Do you know where I can source the Furanol 2? I've done a quick search and can't see it available anywhere. I know I can get my hands on the interpet stuff though - what do you think?   I...

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

Thanks Wilder, I was hoping you'd see my post.    The hollow bit under the eye does it look pink, or red with a circling of dead tissue around the edges? Not at the hollow, it just looks white but no fraying or fluffy tissue that I can see. In front of the gill plate/behind the nose kind of...

    Cory With Growth Over Eye?

Water parameters: Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate I haven't checked in ages but the tank is well planted and gets 60% weekly w/c so it'll be fine, pH 7.2-7.4, temp 27 c, Hardness; my supplier tells me it's soft with a hardness clarke of 7.7 whatever that means! A full description of the fishes...

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

I planted the vallis today and one of the plants is already floating   I had to shift my male BN plec's cave to plant a couple of the plants and he has responded by digging in the sand next to the cave and dislodging it lol. The wood is still soaking but the colour is fantastic, I can't...

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

I used an app called PhotoGrid on my phone, then uploaded them to photobucket :)   Well no eggs yet!  I was sure she would lay yesterday and saw her doing some "dry runs" on a java fern leaf.

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

Well after just saying the other day that I thought it strange my angels haven't spawned in this tank - we have movement! One of my young female angels seems hell bent on laying eggs today but doesn't know what she's doing lol. She flying around beating up the other angels and cleaning multiple...

    Tiger Lotus Question

Thing is that you can apparently separate them but it doesn't always work out - if I remember correctly. So there's some risk involved is all :)

    Tiger Lotus Question

mmm no I wouldn't separate it from the bulb. If you want multiple plants, safest bet is to buy multiple bulbs IMO

Carbon Pad Change ?'s (Power Filter)

If it were me I'd swap to an external/canister filter. You can move all of your current media into the trays of the new filter and you're done :) With a tank your size an external filter is pretty normal, 29 gallons right?   I'd recommend the Marineland C-160 or C-220, they are the US equivalent...

Have you checked aquaessentials? I just bought some giant vallis from there for £3.50 a pot. The plants arrived in good condition and a nice size.

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

Here's a few random photos I took on my phone. I realise I haven't posted a tank photo in ages, partly because it's so unimpressive lol. But now that I've bought the vallis and java fern, which have previously done well in my tanks I'm hoping that will change! From above: And the front -...

    Spray Bar Or Not?

This is kind of what your spraybar shouldlook like. Under the water, with the holes pointing up just enough to move the surface of the water. I have two spraybars in here but you get the idea :)

Nerite Snail Always Out Of Water

I have two of these guys, great for clean up crew! One of them stays around the bottom and the other is like your's always up at the top of the tank. It does go all over the tank but spends most of it's time around the water surface - I worry about mine for this reason as well but it's always...

    Plants Life In Tank

Hello! We'll you've got a couple of things going on here that I can see.    Firstly, that white and green stripey plant - not aquatic They are lovely and the shops sell them like they are meant to be in water but they aren't and it will die. You can put it in a pot and keep it on your window...

    Aquarium Bottom Frame

The bottom frame isn't there for holding the panes of glass together. The point of a floating base is to level the bottom of your tank against any flexing or imperfections in the surface it's sitting on which is why you would need some other "self-leveller" if you don't use it e.g. styrofoam or...
  32. Alm0stAwesome

    Aquarium Bottom Frame

If the edge of the frame goes under the bottom of the tank then it is structural; called a "floating base"   I once had a Jewel tank which was second hand/old and the bottom frame was broken in a similar way. As long as you can get the tank into place with the frame where it needs to be, once...

Trigon 190 - My First Planted Tank

HI! Congrats on the new tank and the decision to fishless cycle. This is a really fun period of planning while you're waiting on the tank to cycle.    Juwel lights tend to be really good (sometimes too good for low tech tanks) and I don't think you'll need the reflectors. A lot of people...

Vallisnaria Clean-Out, Just A Passing Note.

lol I had the same thought as DrRob - except I've just broken down and purchased 4 pots of giant vallis 'rubra'.    I sold a crazy amount of it (up to 5ft long plants) for nothing several months back and here I am having to buy baby plants because I want it back - doh!

The Angel Isles: Planted Community Tank

Ouch! My bank balance is hurting. So much for the no hardscape plan, I've just bought two pieces of redmoor for the tank, 4 pots of vallisneria gigantea rubra, an XL microsorium pteropus and another red tiger lotus. My last lotus died but I love the plant so much I want to have another go at it...

    Bristlenose Pleco Laying Blue Eggs?

No but I did put some of these in there about 9 months ago   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TNC-Plugs-Aquarium-Plant-Food-Substrate-Fertiliser-Root-Tablets-/261311560997   These seem too big to be the pellet from what I added but I guess they could have swollen? I'm starting to feel foolish lol...
