Not yet, but soon, I'm thinking of restocking my twenty gallon. I'm not in the mood to do another sorority, so I'm looking at community set ups. I'd like harlequin rasboras (about eight or so) in the twenty gallon long with my female Gorgon, who seems to be pretty chill. I'd try her out first with a school of otos.

My desired stock would be something like this:
Gorgon, female betta splendens
6 otocinclus (or Pygmy corydoras if I change or add to my substrate)
8-10 harlequin rasboras.

I've got an Aqueon 40 and a Fluval 30 running, temp at 83 degrees, water changes twice a week. I'm looking mostly at compatibility and potential problems with this proposed set-up in regards to water chemistry and whether or not I'm grossly overstocked.

To me, this sounds like a wonderful setup! I kept harlequin rasboras with a male betta in a 10 gallon before. He did occasionally chase the rasboras but they are quick, and it was a rare occasion. I don't see compatibility or overstocking to be an issue in this stock. Also, in terms of water chemistry, if I remember correctly, they come from the same part of the world (bettas and rasboras), therefore have very similar needs in terms of water conditions.

Na there shouldn't be a problem with this set up, perfectly safe :)

Thanks, friends! So now I'll continue to work on replanting the tank and by the time that is done, I'll have started on the new set-up. I'm excited about it.

I'm excited for you! I know how much I love tearing down my tanks and starting over.

I think that sounds like a great set up Atti.  Harleys tend to do ok with bettas so I don't really for see too much issue.  Just watch Gorgon to make sure she doesn't start attacking them and watch them to make sure they don't harass her.

Will do. I'm going to replant the tank before I think about adding any other fish, so there should be plenty of spaces for all fish involved.
