I have had my discus a year now I got quality 3" fish from Hans. What I had to learn the hard way was these fish get stunted easy. Everyone told me they need extra wc they can not be neglected you have to feed 3 times a day. My biggest is 5" and he was the first one I got took the best care of...

Nice I have a 9" one of these guys she is almost 3 years old and still growing slowly. These are really pretty fish. Are you going to start a breeding project? Looks like you have a lot of them.

    Blood Parrots?

I do not believe this fish are or ever were found in the wild. I would like to see proof of that. I will believe that they are not hybrids. They could be a genetic deformity that has been line bred. Maybe the first "parrot" was the offspring of a wild caught fish. Or maybe it was a deformed...

    Blood Parrots?

In sort NO. Even if the parrot is a hybrid it is still very much a cichlids and they should never be trusted with smaller fish. I have seen Parrots get to be 6" they are not small. Getting on for this tank is a bad idea.

I Am Back With New Cory Cats

My HC is so well rooted I have a hard time pulling it up. SO I don't see that being a problem with dwarf cory cats. BUT I understand that Corys like to to dig around in Sand and dirt. Plants are not a natural ground cover they are not made for searching in plants. So that could be a problem once...

" I have recently bought some of these for my gf. I was just wondering what your set up is for the HC to grow? We're trying to get a nice carpet going, but it's fairly lack luster as is, am considering ripping it out and going for HC..." My litle Cory cats are still doing well. I hope they...

Incredibly Strange Behaviourfiremouth Breeding Activity Or Normal?

Cichlids are crazy. One day they are madly in love the next day they hate each other. It can take a year for young dish to get it right. Or it could take one time. It all depends on the fish they are all differant. Good luck

How Big Should The Fry Be When I Sell?

If you think they are too small then go with that. It depends on what you are selling them for. If for feeders it does not matter. I would keep them till they were about half the size of the adults or a little bigger don't wait till they are full grown.

What Type Of Shrimp Is This?

Look up Palaemon elegans that's pretty close not sure if it is that. it's more of a salt water shrimp.
  18. snowflake311

What Type Of Shrimp Is This?

Pretty close I think 2" is a good size shrimp and it could still be growing. River shrimp is a very general term for shrimp with nice long pinchers.
  19. snowflake311

What Type Of Shrimp Is This?

How big are they? They look big like almost 2? I thought one kind of looks like a tigger but my guess is they are some wild type of shrimp that got caught by mistake. They don't look like any common shrimp I have seen for sail. Maybe sunkist shrimp they have the spots and are tan or orange.
  20. snowflake311

    Algae? Fungus?

It's algea. Some fish will snack on it. This will do no harm to your tank.

I Can't Figure My Sparkling Gouramis Out

Being peaceful and being aggressive eaters are differant. Aggressive eatters go after food like a bunch of starving sharks. These aggressive eatters are peaceful fish but love to eat. Sparkling gouramis tend to be more laid back feeders a bit more shy about it.

    Omg Fry?

They were starting to spawn in a 5 gal tank but it did not work well. Then I moved them to a 20gal long with lots of plants and floating plants. They had a successful spawn in this tank. Breeding Discus

You need a good spawning site. They spawn on trees and branches. Heaters and intake tubes they will use but are not good safe sites. So make sure you give them a breeding cone or nice branch. If they are domestics water ph and that does not matter just try and keep it under ph 8. Water needs...

I Can't Figure My Sparkling Gouramis Out

The food has to be really small. They are not aggressive eatters. So if you have other fish like crazy tetras that attach food yes you have a problem. Mine like live brine shrimp and tiny bite sized flakes. Mine were not big on food when I first got them but now they eat well. I will post this...

I Can't Figure My Sparkling Gouramis Out

I don't think it is a bad thing when sparkeling gouramis hide. Mine were hiding out when they made the bubble nest. If you don't see them that means its a good chance they have a nest. My pair have fry now that they are guarding with thier life. But they went missing for a little while I would...

    Omg Fry?

I was feeding my 20 gal long planted tank of tiny fish. I saw a tiny fry swimming up to the surface not smart. My gourami got it. I am pretty sure it was a galaxy fry. They spawned in the think HC. Or could it have been a gourami fry that left the nest because they have been guarding an area. It...

I Can't Figure My Sparkling Gouramis Out

The ligh method will confirm if it's female. If you can shine a light on your female you can see a small mass of eggs right behind the vent. The female will be a bit more round then the male. Males will build a nest and become very protective of it only letting the feme around it. My male is a...

    Sparkeling Gourami Is Crazy Nasty!

I wanted a pair and I got lucky it is a true pair. They are not that hard to sex. Males have almost perfect spots and a more solid line. The females markings are less perfect.
